Pre-allocate your skill points

I think it would be a nice quality of life to be able to pre-allocate or pre-plot skill points so that when you level up you can ctrl+click the skill point icon and it will invest a point into the next pre-allocated node.

This way we can spend a little time up front plotting our path on the tree, maybe ctrl+click nodes to create a skill tree plot, so that if we already know what we want for the next 60 points, it can automatically invest the right points.

Lets say you get to a moment where you need a bit more strength and its not plotted on your path, well you can invest your next points normally, only ctrl+click will invest into the plotted path, so you can adjust and adapt on the go.

This kind of implementation could also work for the atlas.

I would personally love this feature, but I think it's a bad idea for the game. The sad reality of PoE is that a huge percentage of players don't make their own builds, don't understand the mechanics of the builds they play, and seem to barely understand fundamental game concepts. Being able to pre-load an entire character that they found online would only make that problem much, much worse.

It's the same reason why maps have to drop itemized with tiers, instead of just allowing players to run whatever map level they want. And this is true in most well designed games, to be honest; it's the same underlying principle as forcing players to beat Normal difficulty to unlock Hard. Low knowledge players have no idea who they are and simply cannot accurately self-assess. You've got to protect players from themselves, sometimes, otherwise they'll go on youtube or twitch and see the best players in the world doing something and assume that's exactly what they should also be doing.
They said in one of the recent interviews someone's been working on a passive tree planner-type QOL mechanic so maybe we'll get that in 3.29.
