Can´t use external GPU

I have a laptop, which has two GPUs, an internal GPU (Intel HD Graphics 4000) and an external GPU (Nvidia Geforce GT 650m). The problem is in the Graphic options of the game I can´t choose the external GPU. The adapter tab, where you should be able to change the GPU which the should use, is greyed out and I can´t click anything.

Same here... the main problem is that people with 2 GPUs (the one`s with NVidia i know for sure) the NVidia driver is switching between both GPU automatic, and what i saw is that the Client is running with NVidia GPU but the game is not recognizing it (Intel GPU is the default one)

The solution about running client with High GPU don`t work (tested) I`ll try to set NVidia as default GPU and see if it works .


Edit: Ok making NVidia as default works (it`s little pain in the *** to change it everytime when enter and exit the game, i want to use my laptop in battery lol), but seriously
first game i see to use so many resourses..... and i`m still at logon page ...

I am running the game on a laptop with an external GPU (Geforce 540M)
For Nvidia users: go to "Nvidia control panel" then go into Manage 3D settings.

Under global settings:

Change Preferred Graphics Processor from "Integrated graphics" or "Auto-Select" to "High performance Nvidia processor". (Check the picture)

Then run the game and it should automatically use the Nvidia for the game.
There should be a similar feature for ATI users.

I tried that but it didn´t work. The game still uses the internal GPU.

I had the same problem. I have a GeForce 310m. I added the client.exe (it calls itself phantasy star online 2(client.exe) for some reason?) in the nvidia control panel, and now I have to right click the program and select run with nvidia (even though that's the default). But ultimately it works!!!

I've just been dealing with this issue on my laptop with an RTX3080 eGPU.

With the eGPU connected I got 7-10 fps, but the in game dispaly only shows the iris integrated graphics processor.

In windows, goto Settings, Display, Grpahics (or just type grpahics in the search bar at the bottom for windows 11)

Look at the list of games/apps that windows controls and PoE/PoE2 is probably missing.

Click "Add Desktop App" then navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile 2"

I added both "PathOfExileSteam.exe" and "PathOfExile_x64Steam.exe"

Now click the down arrow next to the new entry and select "GPU Preference.... High Performance"

This gave me around 80-100 fps and the RTX3080 was available on the display settings in the game.
