Enki's Arc Witch Memorial Page & POE 2 Arc Summary
" Hi, only my 5 cents. Iam not a experienced gamer, but with my last build i understand the importance of a good/perfect flask setup. The power of good flasks, especially the right timing of using it, is so important and gives u a huge boost. Especially (for me) the "immune to curses" mod. After i understanding that, makes the game much easier for me. Hope u can have the same "aha-effect" :D |

Enki, I have to thank you again for the love you've shown this guide. I am flabbergasted by these changes and couldn't understand your frustrations more. I even wrote a response to the patch notes that referenced this guide as the best possible gateway to the game for new players and literally ended the post with "shame on you" (for whatever that's worth). I hope you can ultimately work around the changes and don't lose your motivation to keep up this guide, as that would be a huge loss to the community at large.
For everyone who's mentioned it, putting more quality on the arc gem increases chance to shock, not shock effectiveness. So that would not be a way of making up the missing 25% we now need to compensate for. We'll have to do that with passives, abyssal gems, and possibly a few mods on equipment... |

" I highly recommend you take a look at Engineering Eternity's guide to the Atlas and Endgame. It's a series that explains how to use currency on your maps, how map drops work, etc etc. I recommend watching one or two to get a basic understanding of things. The videos can be found on Youtube right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHkY3-aESPM . That's the second one -- you can watch the first if you want, but really you've already managed to do the quest to open up your atlas and it's just a preview of that and some real basic stuff that he goes further into in future videos. Anyhow - when you get into mapping, you need to have a few things set. You need to have a minimum of 3k life (I really suggest at least 3500) and you need to have a MINIMUM of 75% elemental resists. Take a look at Enki's guide and look at the gearing section. Look at the recommendations for gear and compare them to what you have - note that EVERY piece has life/ES + resists on it. You don't need perfection in every slot to get to the minimums but you need to have adequate gear to survive the content you're trying to do. In standard, you should be able to buy gear that meets those minimum requirements for 1 alch - 2c per slot, with the exception of maybe weapons. Other people have addressed your gems and weapons. Have faith lads, god bless you. I believe this is the last straw Elementalists will have and in 3.8 she will be augmented by a bunch of things that you will be proud of. I'm not saying it like it will happen, but I have a strong conviction about it. Oh trust me, it's painful as hell - Enki's guide is the first guide I followed in this game and I defeated uber elder in 3.5. After that, of course the build is bricked and I can't even really fix her in standard anymore. It was a lot of memories with the build, and I hope all the best will come.
My suggestion is: Go heralds, Paragon and 2 Golems for ascendancy (which Enki seems to have edited, except Herald nodes in ascendancy), cause Beacon of Ruin is useless now with no more proliferation. My thought is, with herald of thunder you can set up Curse on Hit with Conductivity for more shock chance + Arc 20% quality like some have mentioned here for a lot more dmg - 25% lightning pen after all. And then you can go Essence Worm with Wrath + Watcher's eye with another ~10-15% lightning pen with Wrath mod later when you can afford. A filthy casual

Spoiler
Damn, yes, you're right of course. It's chance to shock.
Anyway, as soon as we deal enough lightning damage, for mobs this shouldn't be an issue. With just 5% of target's max life in lightning damage, 100% effect are already enough to reach the 50% increased dmg taken cap, if I understand the mechanics correctly. And I guess once we hit Beacon, we're far enough to have ~100% shock effect from the tree anyway. Our single target damage will suffer a lot from this nerf tho, right? edit: Wait, no... I had a brainfart. I mean, it's still 15% minimum increased damage taken after the nerf. So we only lose out on 5% dmg, no? And I wonder how much the lost ailment spread from Beacon will affect our clearspeed. :/ The nerf of Shock effect on the Inpulsa will make it quite a bit harder to cap it at 150% now, but I guess that alone could be dealt with with relative ease. With the last ES-version of the build I managed to hit 149%, with 35% coming from Inpulsa and the rest from the tree (Breath of Lightning + Static Blows), no Jewels. I guess with Jewels and some other nodes (Divine Judgement 18% + Crackling Speed 10%) we're still able to hit the 150% tho. Last edited by Cendrake#0301 on Jun 5, 2019, 1:33:31 PM

I've done lots of testing, as expected the proliferation nerf barely affects us as we never really built around it in the first place. The shock nerf is bigger, we'd need ~234% shock effect now to reach 50%, which is possible but difficult to pull off since I can't reasonably path to Static Blows.
Will slowly work on the update, and by that I mean literally cuz' my new mouse did not arrive yet. twitch.tv/enkivt

" I think we should still be able to hit 150% without breaking the build, it'll just be a little more squeezed. Just as a little experiment, I went into standard last night and respecked my life/mana arc witch from 3.5 and was pleasantly surprised to find both that the damage was almost as good as this league's and that the survivability seemed better. I was able to distribute points such that I got to more than 150% effect of shock without any trouble. Admittedly, that was a level 98 character (from when it was easy to get into the upper 90s with pure breachstone rotas) and the daggers were better because the craftable mods were slightly more powerful last league, but I'm still encouraged. I will fully admit that I don't remember all the details about how shock damage is calculated--I'll try to look at the Wiki later and see if I can verify your calculations. I think if we cap shock effectiveness at 150%, we won't be missing out on any extra shock damage from the Beacon of Ruin nerf. Losing the proliferation definitely hurts, but I think the fact that Enki is going for high crit chance next league could mitigate that nerf a little, since arc will be shocking more enemies all on its own. We also have the option of elemental proliferation support, though I don't know if it would be possible to work it into the build effectively without storm brand, which Enki may be taking out for orb of storms. Very curious to see how that change and the lightning warp change play out. Edit: ignore my hypothesizing and see Enki's post above instead. Why not just drop Beacon entirely and replace it with Mastermind of Discord? It seems it would require way less investment to take advantage of compared to a 15% minimum shock 4-pointer, especially now that that's all that 4-pointer essentially provides.

" Hey enki first thanks again for the awesome build and i know its a shit storm what happened and made youre work so much harder now,i know you ahve so much to think about ,to fix, do you think will be ready in time of legion release? |

@fsxraptor
With 21/20 HoT, 21/20 ALD instead of Hypothermia, two 2-point mana clusters instead of Breath of Lightning and the ele damage from Pendulum up it's still only the same DPS as Beacon with 100% shock effect (30% shock damage increase), while losing ~200 mom pool and chill. Without Pendulum up it's 8% worse. Beacon is still the better choice for this build.
@XsabBadDon
I should be done by tomorrow afternoon, maybe earlier.
