You get a free passive tree reset with Patch 3.9, so don't worry about that. And yeah, i've focused heavily on rares for this build.

It's some good additional damage and Onslaught proc early on, later we don't need it anymore and wouldn't have the sockets anyway.

Would hurt our penetration too much, and by that reduce damage. Besides, Three Dragons is much more common and taking the full damage for freeze treshold instead of just 40% of it allowed me to freezelock some T15 bosses, although we'll have to see how it works with the new ailment treshold.

" That would be a huge change. This build is tightly tuned to using a staff, you lose most of the synergy by putting in a bow. You lose all the passives on the tree that are bound to using a staff, you lose fortify since you can't do melee movement skills, you lose all the useful stats from a well-rolled staff... To make a good voltaxic caster build, you kinda need to plan around voltaxic from the foundation of the build. |

Why would one choose Vaal Arc over Arc and what would the consequences be? For example, what would using Vaal Arc mean for Spell Echo, which "cannot support Vaal skills"? Would it be dropped and replaced with Empower?

A good staff would still be much better. Only stat on Voltaxic that would add anything is the last line and it may also read as "deal up to double damage" (considering no other "increased damage taken" sources on the enemy), something that we can already get up to 40% chance for, together with all the other damage affixes.
Add to that the opportunity cost of 5 passives, 3x jewel slots and 3x Lioneye's Falls together with Rearguard to still keep block and all the other staff node stuff and you'll notice that the opportunity cost is way too high for no gain.

Too expensive early on, maybe even later depending on meta, too rare for SSF, needs Storm's Gift to be good which has just the same issues and you can get way more out of the body armour slot.

Nothing, it also grants the regular Arc skill, Echo only doesn't affect the vaal part. It's a straight upgrade, but only if you can get a Lv21 Vaal Arc.

So hyped to see the new endgame. So hyped about the Awakened Gems, they look really juicy. So hyped to test this new iteration of your build and the fact we get at least some chain distance back!
Not so hyped about some other things from the patchnotes, but meh... we'll see how it turns out. 3.9, my body is ready! |
