Hacked Accounts
" Or they could use the hackers to throw off suspicions, so they look good in the spot light, and have a spot to go "we have no idea what they're talking about." if they went back after the hackers, and the hackers said they were allowing it for this very reason. Business is shady, and no matter the business, this possibility must be thought of. " You, yourself, have shown a spot where a company HAS done something of the sort, again, how could you ever put it past any other company? " How did you come to this conclusion? As a personal hope for the company, or because you actually saw something? You, yourself, have said they're not saints, and that from someone trying to support the company, while never seeing anything good from the company doesn't bode well for the company. " Really? Because I've never seen a honorable company turn around, blame the players for them being hacked, treating everyone that's hacked the same, including the people that very definitely deserve to have their items returned, and saying they have no issues in their security. Infact, I do believe one of them went as far as to say there was no way they could be hacked (false, and shows very little experience with technology. I've known since I was 8 that computers are NOT secure no matter how well secure you think they are.) An honorable, upright company would be like Blizzard, who, I can confirm, will NOT return what was hacked because of your stupidity, and will return what needed to rightfully be returned... Sony will do this, NCSoft will do this, even EA in all their glory will do this. None of these companies have shown any love for their loyal costumers in years, and have even been purposefully pissing on what their loyal customers want to spread out to a larger crowd for more money. Compared to these, GGG might aswell be the peddler in the back alley that'll sell you a watch that breaks in 5 minutes, then doesn't take returns or give exchanges. |

Either you come up with prooves, or you return to your honorable blizz company.
And now, excuse me please, I refuse to take part in this stubborn discussion any more. |

After being hacked myself, it seems there are several ways that these chinese (where it seems 99% of them are coming from) are getting access to accounts, mine personally was an email compromise, due to the order of emails being a password reset 1st then followed by the account lock. All they seem to need is email details, then reset your password then get into your account, then usually delete the emails so it looks like they havent been there. Luckily i didnt have that much in value, but its still very annoying. It really intrigues me where they get the details from....From what i know : i have 100% never been to ANY poe related site except the official forum, so it seems that they must get the deatails elsewhere. my email / pass was unique for this game. hmmmm puzzling
Anyway, unfortunatley the only people really to blame here is the small percentage of players .... YES PLAYERS ....people who use real cash to buy currency / items If there was no market for this, there would be no market for hacking. solutions???? the only one i can think of is to make everything self found and not allow trading, only being able to dispose of gear through a vendor ...pretty sure that will never happen though. |

@Rarsheala --- king of trolls
This was such a hoot to read, thank you. The best part was all those hackers from different provinces of China having some meeting agreeing on how to proceed? Yeah, let's start at the bottom and move our way up. Just open some windows man, get some oxygen in that basement apartment. |

Sooo.. GGG just can't track all the transactions between accounts in game? In Guild Wars 2 you can't even lend 1000gold to friend because you'll be banned for trading, because they're monitoring all the mails/transactions.. Is it that hard? Just ban the accounts of players that got items from our accounts.

I was hacked!
I have a password that is exclusive to this game. I've only visited the official site,never any fake misleading sites and i'm 100% sure of this. I dont buy items or even visit any gold selling sites. Any email that is not family/friends or expected,goes straight to the trash. I have virus protection and everything up to date. Been playing games online 15 years and never was hacked till now. I logged on today after being away a few weeks,the password wasn't working and said something about logging on from a different location,so i changed the password,logged on my lvl 57 character to find him naked and only having his rings,necklace and flasks. Then i checked the vault to find all my currency items were gone which was a variety of hundreds,about 20 gems (only the ones of quality,the rest were left in vault) and a couple pieces of junk gear i had in there. Same thing on the hardcore league where i have 5 other characters(they were nice enough to leave the gear on my lvl 5 char) I contacted support by email and they wrote me back within a half hour saying i should change my email accounts password and i would not be able to recover any of the stolen items,and i was given a link sending me to this thread. So i was worried now that someone was getting into my email,so i changed my password and did a bit of research checking and recovering a history of deleted messages,and there was nothing out of the ordinary,nothing that was deleted from path of exile during the period i was hacked...However when i changed my password earlier today i did get an email for my own password reset and unlock code..so thats strange the hackers were able to intercept that mail from coming to me when they hacked into my account. Let me say 105 pages as of now on this topic sounds like the problem is way out of hand and more than just the individuals fault for lack of security. I have read alot of the recent posts in this thread to see whats going on with other people and i'm seeing people alot like me,claiming they have a tight security,never been hacked before,no trace of someone getting access to their email etc...something is just not right with that picture,there is more to it than the individuals faulty security. And all these people are left with no gear,no currency to even buy suitable junk gear for their level, and no chance at all for help getting their old gear back. Now i like this game alot,but i'm not going to start building up my gear from scratch only to be hacked and have it all robbed again,and i'm sure many others in this situation feel the same. I was so close to dropping some cash for extra storage in this game last time i played,glad i didn't do that or perhaps my bank info would be compensated as well. I cant understand how ggg sits back and says it will ruin the economy if they give people back their stolen gear,because whats really going to happen is ggg's real life economy is going to be ruined when most of their supporters leave because of this. What really needs to be done is to fix this security issue and rollback all the accounts to before they were hacked and robbed. But until that happens i am done,was fun while it lasted,too bad it was killed so soon. Peace out |

Will it work out if I change my password?

@Rarsheala -
Given what we've seen with the number of hacked accounts and the details behind them I think it's a strong possibility there is a problem GGG server side. Accusing them of working with the hackers though is really out there. Besides being an unsustainable business model, there is no indication that I've seen that this is the case. It is a shame GGG doesn't do more to support it's customer and fan base. GGG - Please fix this issue now and add security features. |

This question is directed to the people in charge of accounts...is there a way to temporarily close my account for some amount of time? The reason is that I will be on vacation for a month, and will not be able to log in to play. I don't want my account to be accessed by anyone while I'm gone, so I wish that it is temporarily closed until I return from my vacation. Is there any way this can be arranged? I really fear that something could happen while I'm gone and I won't find out about it until it's too late.
