Here's some feed back from a (now) former player:

My account was hacked and I was stripped of all my stuff a few days ago (I made a brief post on page 103).

I think a Chinese hacker got in through my email. I'm not sure how, but the how and the why of how my account was compromised is besides the point.

My points is:
I lost all my stuff. All that time put into the game was wasted. It's frustrating.

I'll never play PoE again, nor will any of my friends. It's not out of spite either. The collective attitude is more along the lines of dejection and frustration

I'm not trying to rage/whine/flame with this post.

Just sayin, I can't be the only hacking victim that's reacted or will react in this manner.

The hacking policy/procedure is sure to cost you a lot of paying customers.

Why would we want to spend money on a free to play game when the account security keeps getting compromised?

Anyone feel secure in imputing your bank information with this type of security?

I DO NOT.

I really really like the game and was willing to give GGG my spare cash, but now, why would I when i would potentially risk my entire bank account?

Well I'm still playing after getting hacked last week.

Started a new toon, but have pretty much given up on playing the other naked characters.

At the back of my mind though is what if it happens again? I've changed my game and email password, but without knowing exactly how I was compromised I have no trust in the game security.

If it happens again I'm out.

Hi,

My partner was hacked a while back. I noticed this whilst he was at work and I was playing on my own when I saw his character logged in. I panicked and asked people in global chat for help. I just wanted to say I am shocked at the amount of rude comments I received! People accused me of cheating and said we deserved it or had it coming. Others even tried to scare me saying my whole PC security was compromised including my bank account etc.

We have always played online games together and never been hacked. We are genuine players who play the game the way it's supposed to be played. We work hard together to gear and level up since this is what makes the game fun to us. We don't use any dodgy websites or buy anything with real life money which is one of the reasons this game appealed to us - being free to play. Nobody knew his password (not even I did) and we know to protect our machines from malware. It's a mystery to us how it happened but we have decided to give it another go. We no longer save our password on the PC which I have seen a lot of people say not to do and we have obviously changed his password after the incident. Hopefully this wont happen again.

So please, before you start accusing people, remember that you don't know them and for someone reaching their hand out for help it's a stressful situation already without all the bad comments. If somebody is asking for help, is there really the need to make their situation worse? Imagine if it happened to you.

On top of this I also wanted to say thank you to the GGG member of staff who whispered me afterwards to make sure I was okay. He answered my questions and calmed me down a bit. It was nice to speak to someone polite that also took you seriously. Thank you Henry, you are a star!
