Hacked Accounts

I see the point Chris is making, i know the idea of it too well from Diablo 3. Yet when you're standing as the one with a compromised account, with no support possible, it's another matter.

I stopped playing PoE for about a month or so, just to come back to an empty stash... They've taken everything of value... Really doesn't make the game appeal to me right now... Having nothing to come back to and starting over isn't my idea of fun...
Bonjour je me suis fais hack et je ne peut plus me connecter même en rentrant le code envoyer sur mon mail quelqu'un pourrait m'aider svp
bye bye i got nice 3 years in this game but is time to go (and yes not use map hacks and other phising bs...)

Flawed Logic. These people stealing accounts are not dumb they will not target high profile people. They are not terrorists they are not doing this to scare people they are doing it to make money. They know if they target a high profile person their access in would get caught faster. While as if they target players who are not high profile the loop in will go on longer. They could be using a password reset hack like hotmail had to deal with just last year. Its not cool to blame the customer.

Lol, you know nothing about hackers if you dont think there are hackers out there that target high profile people/ organizations. They do this so they can brag to their hacker friends/ community. You dont think a hacker would find it funny if a high profile streamer like Kripparrian find all his loot gone, except a pirate hat on one of his characters (yea, they like to troll that way)?

It's not like they have "Union rules", or a hive mind. Oh let's not hack a high profile dude for the good of our hacking community. If they could get anyone, you can bet a few wouldn't care and grab from whomever.

It's weird that some people seem to think they are hacking accounts in just one way, might be some minor flaw & keyloggers & and people who use same passwords & mod tools & phishing etc.

You are running under the assumption those types of hackers actually care about a game like POE. If they was to try and target something or someone more high profile.... it'd be something more then some random F2P game.

The hackers games like POE deal with are those only after money... Hackers after money don't really care about trivial crap like you described.
So what your saying is now im quitting this game because im now completely poor and have wasted all my time for no reason. Thanks GGG appreciate it.

No, im saying there are hackers out there that hack for the fame or fun/trolling whatever. I mean, have you any idea how popular it is to DDOS Athene and Kripparrian? Ofc there are asshole hackers that play the game and get rich by hacking and phishing from other accounts.

Came back today after a few weeks break to find all my gear/currencies gone.
This is the first time I have ever been hacked online in anything.

I strongly believe that it is not my fault that I got hacked, I know where I've been, I know I'm legit and the pw I used is unique. Not that it matters because I only ever entered the pw 1 time, it was always saved, I never had to re-enter it.

So how then does someone hack my account? It makes no sense. Logically, to me, it must be a security breach at GGG.

I can understand that GGG does not want to take the time to investigate these cases and restore items. That would take a lot of time (money) to do that. You have to realize though that the game is pretty much dead to me now. You save money by not investigating my case and doing what's right, but you lose the possibility of me spending more money on the game.

In fact, I think I will call my cc company and see if I can have the purchases I have made charged back. Perhaps the cc company won't do it but I feel I need to do something. I have spent a significant amount of money on this game the past few months and now I feel betrayed by GGG. :(

so, how long are you using your email account and when was the last time you changed the password?

as long as people keep refusing to accept that the weak part is on their side they will get hacked.
THIS MEANS:
you do NOT need to have malware on YOUR PC!
BUT as you may (/should) know big companies like Sony, LinkedIn, Blizzard, (for german users: buffed.de), etc. got compromised and some even stored the users details in PLAIN TEXT (which is unacceptable). You may even have (had) accounts on some shady site or even normal forums (clans, etc.). phpBB boards had several weaknesses where some1 could gain admin rights and download the login details (stored as MD5, where you just need medium google skills to crack).

In this game there is no known way you could enter the game without a code when your IP changed (if so, pls proof it!).
So if you want to be 100% sure make a new gmail address with 2-step verification.
They should add the option they talked about earlier to tighten up your account even more
herehttp://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/181483,
"We're planning to add plenty more security features so that users can opt to make it harsher (limiting it to a specific IP rather than city) "

Then the problem is solved for good. Should be easy considering you already have an ip check you are using.. its just not safe enough
