Is it still possible to bypass the email verification code by logging onto poe website and changing contact email, stealing stuff and then changing the email back to what it was?

I deleted my my account path of exile and my user had to put up with another email different, that I have cread one new how much a different email and I have added my old user and I see playing with my old account , and do not know what else to give me back boya86 is mine, not who has it now that's what I want.

I just got hacked. I have a secure password, that is not the same as my e-mail. I have not ever used RMT, a 3rd party program, or clicked any bad links. I'm not placing fault anywhere but I feel like it is unlikely that it is on me in this case. I have never been hacked once in 15+ years of online gaming.

That being said, I was wondering if there was any update on when the new security measures mentioned on the first page of this post will or have been implemented ( I did not read this whole post obviously, 97 pages too strong!). I enjoy PoE in my free time until my guild decides on what MMO it wants to play, but I have a hard time justifying playing when it appears that hacking accounts is so easy.

To all the people who undoubtedly will say its a user problem, I'd suggest you take the rose colored glasses off and look at the amount of people who have been hacked. Will you still say its a user problem when it happens to you and you take the same security measures as others?

Truth is we have no clue how many people get hacked, what percentage of the active community. Looking at the forum and thinking it's an epidemic is like going to a hospital and concluding everyone is sick.

Reading certain post you can see that a lot of them look like "user error", but I can't conclude that it's all user error either. We just don't have valid info.

I would agree with that. I made that statement because of all the games I have played, this one has clearly had the most hacked account problems, at least that have been voiced on the forums or in game.

I haven't played poe in a couple of weeks, I decide to play it today. Weird thing is I receive an email from GGG saying my account was accessed from a location a couple of hours drive north of me. All my items are gone etc...

I dont click on any random phising links, or gold farming or anything dumb like that. I wasn't even rich, I had a lvl64 and a lvl22 since open beta and they are all cleaned out, half the stuff stuff wouldnt be worth vendoring.

Just checked my characters today after not playing for awhile and my stash and inventory has been wiped clean of all currency, needless to say most if not all of my items are still here so it looks like they were just after the currency. This is the first time I've been hacked and have been an active gamer for the last 15 years. Haven't touched a Path of Exile site for quite awhile.
