[0.10.4] HC EK Tank Marauder (The Bloodfather)

Anyways, back to the build discussion.

What I find this build incredibly good and tanky is the combination of Grace + Iron Reflexes

I was on Templar Melee God Build (Lightning Strike) and Pronzon's FP Templar build before, and the common problem I found was the lack of armor and Physical damage reduction while leveling.

The melee build i was having problems at level 40+, and noticed that mobs hit for so much and was difficult to progress, especially vs blue mobs or yellow mobs. At the time my PDR was 40% with a shield!

So I thought that melee is no good... and having your dmg so dependent on a weapon makes progressing difficult (need a new weapon every 10 levels or less), so I changed to Prozon's FP build.

Got the FP build to lvl 64, and found the same problem, PDR was lower than 40%! and mobs hit me so hard...

Then I realised that unless I get godly gear, ie gear that has lots lots lots of armor and ES, I was not gonna survive very well...

So then I looked up other builds, and EK got me interested, and more I research, the more pointed me to Marauder (high hp%).

Then after comparing a few EK Marauder builds, I decided that this one fits me best.

Turns out I made the right decision =)

PS: I work full time, and I don't have much spare time to experiment myself, so I tend to take short cuts and look for the most efficient builds, and this is definitely an efficient build =)

That's actually very good insight, this is what i recommend most of my friends of doing as well. You'll learn the most about the game and about your own play style by trying many different specs.

There are definitely downsides to EK though, like the close range and very slow attack speed. And not to mention the high risk of reflecting yourself to death unless you have very high armor.

This is also why i can never play characters with out IR, Grace and Determination now, sadly. The defensive stats you get from those auras are just too good to not have, especially when you can't afford all the best gear.

Question about Bear trap.

Does iron will affect the physical damage by bear trap?

If I have 400 str, every 5 str = 1 extra % on phy dmg, so that means it's 80% more phy dmg!

It does, but i think you gain more from AFD. If you're going for more links, just add Chaos Damage etc. You could just experiment to see which one gives you more damage increase.

A little update lol.

I started a LA marauder for the last two days, and got to lvl 45.

Was not easy to progress, especially solo as an archer, and with bad equipment..

Once Iron Reflexes hit at lvl 32, not huge improvement due to lack of shield.

But the attacking is more fluid as you don't need to position as much due to longer range with lightning arrow.


But for now EK build is tankier for sure!


One thing I find with LA is the equipment, particularly the bow, is very expensive, as I think a lot of people are using LA builds.


With this EK build, I definitely find it less gear dependent, and as long as you have a good wand, and sp% on shield (duel wand?) then you are all good!

an average 4L glove with IAP, life, and resist is like 5-10x+ more expensive than just life and resist....

I plan to level both LA and EK characters side by side, so i dont get bored with one particular character, and report back =)

Yeah i think i leveled my LA marauder (The Shocker) as Ground Slam until i had the gear to make the switch. It's a pretty solid build later on though.

I'm starting to miss my EK marauder now, i might have to level one again!

Well to be honest this build is way from optimal ;S
Mine is like super superiour :S
