[3.3] CI Wandcultist - League starter - Fast mapper - Guardians on a 5L - Shaper down

I think flat Lightning would be the best option for bossing, but attack speed would be better for general clear.

Hey, I’m not new to the game, but I am to wanders/witches. That said, I love the idea of this build and am determined to play it next League, even if it is a struggle. I’ve taken extensive notes on your original post and everyone’s replies, so I’ll be pretty well prepared information wise. I’m not very good at trading and really just play at my own speed, so hopefully I’ll be able to earn all of the key items in a reasonable amount of time.

One question though: what do you use as a movement skill?
Just basic running, quicksilver of andrenaline, silver flask (preferably with reduced charges so you can use it twice), you can also use smoke mine linked with increased duration for additional boost if you remember to use it :) we also take some movement speed nodes on the tree to further help with mobility :) gl in the new league btw.

Hey, I was bored what with it being the end of league and all, so I respecced one of my ED occultists on standard to this build. I've tried wander before on a ranger and hated it--felt like single target dps was total ass.

I've put together most of the gear (the barrage helm enchant is out of my price range even on standard), just missing a 6L at the moment, but I still feel like boss fights are an uphill struggle. Any recommendations? The witch in question is named Suzyn, if you want to glance at my gear.

Edit: I have blood rage in the CWDT set up with IC but I don’t think I’m seeing it go off very frequently. Not sure if I messed it up.

So I took a look at your gear and set up in POB, and have some thoughts and improvements. I don't know how much currency you have to spend on Standard, but everything is decently pricey, but these are at least some things to aim for that should help improve your DPS.

Spoiler
First of all, I don't think your wand is very good, as just throwing in a min-rolled Piscator's is a pretty substantial upgrade in POB. At the time of this post, there is a near perfect Pisctator's for sale for like 60c, but the rest start around like 1ex. When searching for a Piscator's, you want one with preferably 16%+ Attack Speed, 370+ Accuracy, 27%+ Crit Chance, and like 110%+ Ele Damage, though if you do searches without the Ele Damage restriction they become cheaper. If you really want a rare wand, aim for one more like Bristoling has on the first page, with a good rolls on Attack Speed, Crit Chance, Crit Multi, and flat Lightning. Though I do see that your wand has mana leech on it, so doing this you will have to move a point to that node in your tree, I'd recommend one from the energy shield wheel above the Scion start.

Another thing is your gems, getting quality on them will always help your dps, along with getting them all to level 20 or 21. Also, since you have a Dying Sun, it's probably ok to drop GMP on your Barrage and put in an Elemental Focus instead. Also, if you didn't notice or realize yet, the reason your Blood Rage isn't proccing with CWDT is that it has a higher required level than the CDWT it's linked to. Which is what you want, as for mapping it gives you attack speed and frenzy charges, and if you need some extra regen, if you have the Arakaali power with the first soul captured, that gives you extra ES recovery if you've stopped taking Damage over Time recently, so you just do a quick weapon swap or let it expire and you get some easy extra recovery.

Also, unless you really need the damage reduction, I'd swap out the Basalt flask for a Diamond Flask, or if you really want to keep the Basalt flask I'd even switch out the Silver for a Diamond, that will help you. And your rare items are OK, though they could all be upgraded for more damage mods, though for a quick upgrade, it looks like your ruby ring has an open prefix so you can throw some flat fire or cold on it. Your belt has a lot of ES, but if you could find a similar one as a Stygian Vise, that would give you an extra Jewel socket.

And speaking of jewels, yours for the most part can be improved to give you a decent DPS gain. First of all, unless you feel you really need that extra ES, i'd swap out the Energy from Within for a Damage and ES Jewel. Also, for you tree, i'd take 2 more points from the ES energy wheel above the scion starting spot and get the 2-pt jewel socket above VP, so then with that and other changed mentioned with the Piscator's your tree would look pretty much like this, http://poeurl.com/bUio. As for the jewels themselves, i'd aim for jewels like these, http://poe.trade/search/akoyuaukataniz, these all start from like 1 ex each, but those are the types you are looking for. You could always change up the search some, or lower the requirements even more, to see if they are more affordable for you if need be. For what you have, the order I'd upgrade them, if you can't upgrade all the jewels at once, would be Foul Call -> Hollow Goad -> Morbid Arbiter, and Hollow Goad and Morbid Arbiter are ok enough if you don't want to replace them. Also, if all 5 jewels have around 35+ ES on them, you don't really lose much, if at all, from your current setup if that's important to you.

Hopefully that helps some. Wanders typically have really good clear pretty easily, but take some scaling to start tackling stronger single targets, but they do scale really well.
Thanks! I didn't even notice the CWDT thing, I'm actually dumb af sometimes. Really appreciate the analysis, I've been thinking about using a Piscator's that I had lying around. Will take this all into consideration and make the changes.

I actually am only using the basalt flask until I can find a diamond one, so hopefully that won't be an issue for much longer.

It's not super league start viable since it requires a prophecy that's fulfilled via a T9(?) map, but I've been doing this build with Corona Solaris and it's really nice. Everything around you being permablinded makes up for the evasion you give up from not having QotF, and you get a ton of added fire damage/crit chance.

In general I feel like Corona Solaris is extremely underrated.

I also ended up going malediction instead of the power charge node and was running HoI/CoH/Assassin's Mark as well as CWDT/Ball Lightning/CoH/Proj Weakness (it seemed like of all the curses that one was the biggest PoB damage increase).

Eclipse/Corona Solaris aren't that great for this build, first of all attack speed is slow and there is no base critical strike chance increase, meaning that "increased Critical Strike Chance against Blinded Enemies" is only there to try to catch up to a very badly rolled Piscators. Blind is nice defensively but dead enemies don't attack :)

If on extreme budget, then nicely rolled Moonsorrow should perform decently, and probably even better then Corona Solaris.

Malediction is fine to take instead of Forbidden Power, especially if you have a rare wand with Power charge on mana spent. Vs bosses you can lose your charges if you cannot generate them in other way then on kill, and in that case you will lose a bit more dps then what you gain from Malediction.

Have you tried to fit 2 curses into this build taking malediction instead of power charge generation? I can't seem to figure out how I would do that but if you have any ideas I would love to hear! I wanted atleast temp chains and maybe a second curse such as assassin's mark, but I can't seem to get it without the glove corruption.

CwDT curse seems like an easy but unreliable solution, that is, you would need to get hit to get a second curse going. Or, like FreezardB done in his build, Assassins Mark + Curse on Hit + Herald of Thunder, but that isn't going to be effective vs bosses :<
