If it lets them put more money into creating awesome content for us, that's a win-win.

Exactly!

Name a few companies that were independent then got "taken under wings" of much bigger company and still are independent in game industry.
I don't think we need to worry too much i believe even tencent know that if this game went p2w on international servers it would be death within a month

but we won't buy supporter packs then, huh. And they need it to earn more money from tencent.

You entitled "people" threatening not to buy supporter packs because feelings is what led to this. People need security to be productive and work towards a goal. Entitled milenials with attention span of 6 seconds, clueless to how the real world works can provide any sort of security.

u mean the security we open/closed beta supporters had in believing GGG founders are good guys, who wont sell out like notch did? the only reason this game BECAME big was of the ppl who supported GGG when all GGG had was integrity, now thats gone.

i can assure u its not ALL millenials, that had the money and patience to invest in this game when it looked like runescape.

u dont know nothing

I'm Chinese. I would say Tencent is a shit company when it comes to games, but that's mainly for Chinese players in China. Tencent is just nice to their overseas holdings. Just check Riot and LoL, objectively.
What Tencent really cares(in China) is that the investment makes it much easier to implement features that suits Chinese game environment in China server, a lot of which may be pay-to-win things I assume, as that's just how it works since online games appear in China. Something Chris said has indicated that vaguely. But for GGG it's just really simple: I give you money and resources, you make the game much better than now. You can do it, then we are fine.
I'm 70% sure Tencent won't interfere how GGG and the community outside China works. To mess up the game culture over years is suicide, which is the worst Tencent want to see.
As for the supporter pack things or so...GGG is not an "interest club" since far ago. Just treat them as product.

The why Cris sold 80% of GGG, shouldn't he sell the right for the Chinese version of the game then? If it was just like this i wouldn't mind that much as now. But now i feel like we were abandoned. Maybe not now, but in some time changes will happen to the game.

And Chris wont be able to care about the expansions, but also will loose time to handle the stakeholders.

That's how things work since late 2016 when Tencent announced China server, but clearly Tencent want more than just being an agent, and maybe offer something even Chris himself will not refuse.
In their field indies subject to giants sooner or later when they get enough influence. Some indies become giants themselves yet apparently GGG is not one of them now. They need the money.
Just don't panic. Tencent held 90% of Riot in 2011 and then 100% in 2015. Riot is not even a bit "independent" long ago, but would you say LoL is a lot much damn fxxking worse than before Tencent?
Sure Chris will care about other things more in the future. But be aware that GGG has a staff of more than 100 now, they have professional designers in all aspects. Chris himself won't make that a big difference if he spend less time in the game itself. He can give overall instructions and that's ok.
EA takes over GGG confirmed.
hmmm sounds ok but i hope it stays this ways....
Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk Börk
Im not gonna pretend that i understand how those bussines things work. I personaly would still play the game and see what happens in future. I just hope it would be only positive outcome and everyone gets good profit (35c) from it - GGG, we players and Tencent as well.

As long as game will remain fun, enjoyable with new awesome content which keep me playing new league for another 200-300h (oh man, rip my IRL), i still would buy at least one supporter pack every three months and one in middle range expansion if they would looks at least decent.

Anyway, wish you best of luck and looking forward what Tencent brings to the table.

the general feel is that supporter pack / MTX purchases might go down which will impact on their profit. and how will tencent take it from there is a question mark. previously people are more willing to spend cash as its actually a way of supporting the developers financially to develop the game. now it feels microtransacations are there to support their profits instead.

you really believe that? Im 100% sure they have pretty good play how to milk money from players without too much work.

Chris and the others are very passionate about the game, and the core guys love aRPGs. Watch Baeclast or other videos that Chris has been involved in, his passion for the game is obvious.

Of course they need to make money, but they'd never make this large a decision without being very confident that it's best for the game and the community.
three man start making a game and today got huge invested im glad to hear with that.
but 80% of holder it is huge too.
