Tencent has Invested in Grinding Gear Games
Unsurprising tbh. I couldn't see this ending any other way. I've stopped supporting with the release of 3.0.0 which I really really really didn't like. Thanks for the fun earlier expansions though I guess.
ProjectPT was right.

First: These two statements seem to contradict eachother:
We retain full control of Path of Exile and will only make changes that we feel are best for the game. Tencent will request features that they want to try in the Chinese version that we don't plan to roll into the international version. How do you reconcile this? It sounds like they will have a hand in making content related decisions. Second: I'm really saddened by this. I've been playing since the game first launched and I'm a little heart broken. I'll keep playing for as long as the game is good but I won't pay another cent for supporter packs. I don't think that GGG will care much about that seeing as how they've sold out for cash anyway and the leadership is now wealthy enough to not give af. **~~~ The Winds of Shit ~~~** Last edited by Bearpauw#4517 on May 21, 2018, 11:52:13 AM

Well in the short term i will play the game.
I'm just disappointed is all. In the long term i can see GGG being forced to do the economic choice (such as catering to a different player base (kids), adding p2w mechanics, hosting other games on its company and having advertisements (actiblizzard)) for money rather then the choice that would bring the most entertainment to the people that enjoy the game. I really want to believe nothing will change and that it will all work out like you say, but big greedy companies do big greedy things for money even if it means the death of this game as Tencent has proven it is capable of doing. Just my 2c i will try to remain optimistic and will still buy supporter packs based off of how i feel about the current game. |

And I just bought a supporter pack and started actually getting into the game for the first time since release :'(
The doom and gloom around here isn't very enthusing. |

I am very unhappy about your decision to sell out to the Chinese. Several years ago the company I worked for attracted the attention of the Chinese as we had a product the leader of the Chinese was promoting. They waved a massive pile of money under the bosses noses and they sold out. Within 5 months we were closed. End of story.
Well here it is. I will continue to play but will not give one cent further to a company that has literally sold out for the money. Have fun with your new found basked o' swag. |

" The doom and gloom, for the most part, is exagerrated. Healthy concern over this choice of GGG's is warranted and necessary, however for now, nothing changes. And for the foreseable future, nothing will change. In the distant future, it's entirely possible things will go down in an unfavorable direction, but it'll be a while before that happens. |

Really sad to hear this. I've stopped playing Russian made games because there's no doubt that almost all Russian money at this point is well-steeped in corruption and I'm not interested in adding my tiny bit to the whole.
I don't have the same strong aversion to China. Practically everything you buy in the US is made in China. But there's no way that Tencent will be a hands-off majority partner. Such things just don't happen in real life. This relationship will influence the game. GGG was, in my mind, a shining example of an independent studio and monetization model done right. That seems not to have been entirely true, a self-deception it seems, but sad all the same to realize that it can't be so. I'm mourning the death of my ideal, I suppose. I won't say I won't buy more 'supporter' packs, but it sure takes the shine off them, because they won't really be supporting GGG any longer, but the Tencent overlord. |

For all the nice people here they say nothing will change and Chris is the leader of the company.
Remember STEVE JOBS was leader of apple. And then they fired him because he didnd do what they want. And then ? Apple was down. And only with money from microsoft steve jobs buyed apple back and made it to the company again they now still are. Where will be microsoft if chris is fired? He stays only as long as he did what tencend like. If not ..... NO big company is a charity. |
