0.10.3c Patch Notes

I would say that the only thing I do not like about the changes is the fact that if I am off screen and an orb drops, I can no longer tell my party members that something dropped for them. The orb just gets left there and I eventually just pick it up because we don't know who's it was.

This was a massive fail.

Give us UI options to turn the names on drops on or off.

That allows the players who want to play finders keepers to play finders keepers, and the players who want to play fair to play fair.

Give party leaders more control on the way they want to run the group.

On another note.

I am sick of joining a public party, clearing through to a boss room and finding it dead. I have a sneaking suspicion that people do this on purpose to troll players.

The other day I cleared ancient pyramid three separate times in different groups to find the boss dead each time.
Anyway Chris asked for feedback..

Earlier today I lost a rare plate in Old Field, despite the increased timer. First game of the day, not very warmed up. Or maybe I should have drank a couple more coffee? Gneiss dropped a bunch of crap, and I was so stressed out trying to get my item I misclicked a couple times. Before you judge, I play on 2560x1440, it's not that easy to click on the item labels... it becomes easier late in the day when I'm warmed up but then I find I am continuously scanning the screen for items >_>

I felt pretty crappy after losing the rare plate but let it go.. The key is that it doesn't feel crappy to lose the item as such, but that you lose it to another person who doesn't seem to care. The mechanic basically gives an implicit message which is not there, but people can't help to see it that way. That's why we project the image of "ninja" onto people who don't necessarily mean to be dicks (some do, and some don't believing that it's all fair game).

Anyway.. moments later same group in Old Cave I see this Marauder running to a rare ammy that drops for me. I got it, but I felt it was so rude to see this guy racing for it, I was so angry I typed some naughty words in chat.. something like "piss off".

Yeah, I'm one of those players who type naughty words in chat. It wouldn't be fair to blame me for being rude, or that "ninja" for being rude for that matter... because designing shitty interfaces that cause frustration to the user doesn't take much skill.

Making a good interface designed for *people*, that makes them feel good, now that's interesting...

This. The last thing cooperative parties needed was EVEN MORE time wasted loitering about greyed out drops that their teammates cant see/reach.

First world problem. Pick rare up drop it->Timer gone.

How am i going to pick up the greyed out alch thats assigned to my teammate whos half a screen away and being chased by a pack of blues or a harsh rare? I end up having to hang around the area for 3-4 seconds which is a waste of time in races and totally breaks gameplay flow.

The timer also results in alot of lower end items like scrolls being left behind in races as the cumulative time lost over the course of a 1-4 hour event would be enough to lose the race, or just because they drop in an area where standing around for a few seconds would be suicidal.

Your head

If loot drops but you never see it, how could you be upset you didn't get something you never knew even existed?

And another whoosh. You people need to start reading the posts youre responding to.

Its a shame seeing the allocation timer being increased, i never had any problems looting my items. if i for some reason dont have time to loot an item allocated to me, then so be it. its not like the item was mine anyway, i was just lucky to have a better chance of getting it in the first place.

havent tried the new patch yet, but i must say the old loot system worked really well, even though it had some small issues:
* the range at wich you can loot items is a little bit short. if someone is standing on the item you are about to loot, you may get blocked and have a hard time picking up the item even if you are clicking it.
* When your inventory is full and you fail to pick up an item allocated to you, the timer goes out instantly as you click the item.

and not just in races, even before patch i was skipping scrolls while farming. just not worth waiting every time some scroll drops.

Thank you for finally doing something about the loot system.

I'd still like you to address the ability to block other players by standing on loot, though.

This.

However, *THANK YOU* to GGG for the work they've done here! This was very much a needed patch, and it's great to see the development team is dealing with these kinds of issues. :)

And then another player assumes you didn't want it and snags is up. LOL, I hate it when that happens.

thx GGG

This is a step in the right direction! :)

This is just a downside of super fast play. There will always be a difficult balance to find between speed of play and fairness in the game. If players decide it's not worth waiting for an item, that's their decision to make. :)

As a ranged player, I have lost a lot of items. I would say this is because they set the standoff timer based on a "race" concept beginning from the time of drop, but as ranged, I need to assess whether or not it is safe to even go in, and that adds some time to the cycle. I have therefore thought for a while that either the standoff timer should be inreased modestly, or a modest timer change should be made. In all cases, I was thinking in "dot" numbers, however; i.e., 200 milliseconds kinda stuff.

As an FFA player, I like the name off the loot.

I don't like the progress bar being removed at all, for various reasons.

I love these changes and don't think much more will be necessary. Good work GGG!
