Arctic Armour

Is there a list of support skill gems and items that affect arctic armour? It is such a strange one, I expect this on the wiki, but the wiki is bare.

Does Hyrri's Ire armor affect arctic armour? Increased Duration support gem apparently works on arctic armour chilling ice trail.
Increased Duration works, as mentioned.
Blood Magic technically works but there's no Mana Cost anyways so it does nothing.
I assume you can make a Spell Totem out of it.
Faster Casting works, and can be useful if you toggle it a lot.


The Chill effect does not have a duration; it is simply applied when a monster stands on the trail.


(the Wiki has not been updated to reflect (ha get it) that AA reduces Reflect damage but you can't edit anonymously so /effort)

Oh i did not know that you were talking about this amazing skill here, i am going to run a level 23 AA anyone wants to see the results ? i guess yes, i will share in a few couple of days.

any build that works with EB is a good candidate for AA, because EB naturally raises your mana regen.

one thing you should remember is that AA doesnt fully replace armor, and to me, is best used when combined with a bit of armor and evasion.

Although even with all the mana/regen on the tree, I still have about 140% increased mana regen on gear to support a elvel 18 arctic armour. Then again I only have 320 ES on my gear. It's very easy to get much, much more ES than that, and if you do then you don't need so much % increased mana regen to support this skill.

Make it work with lightining and cold dmg also, if not the same as fire/phys at least 50% effective against this, this will help doing low life/ES build.

It's possible to efficient use AA with evasion and acrobatic? Or with mana hungry character like wander?

You can combine EB and acrobatics, but make sure that the balance is on the +mana w.r.t. ES.





With acrobatics the 2nd helmet still would give 100 mana to your pool, so a good ES roll can still beat high mana rolls. Probably it would be best to combine them. You also need a large investment in your tree.

Possible, yes, but you need insane gear.

Also note despite the links (for freeze mine) AA is not linked.

The more you stand still, the less mana regen you need and good mana leech is 1/2 the work.
Without leech I am between 105 to 220 mana per sec (depending on my gear, I kind of keep the better mana gear on a different safe character). I can still run a higher lvl AA despite the gear swap, but it is too much hazzle turning it on and off and using flicker strike to move around.

Things that need to happen:

Something done about the mobility penalty, make play style less frustrating for melee. Yes you can work around it, but believe me when I say that it in no way is a play style that lasts. The ground chill needs to go away and a proper chill needs to be put in place.

I use to be for a bigger ground chill and have it be effected by increased AoE, but a large ground chill, with a longer duration is a killer on map performance and groups will hate you. The classic frost armour should be implemented here, such that melee strikers get chilled. Or such as in diablo 3 and other games within a certain range of character there is an area of chill.

Perhaps when you move is when this chill is active, that way the mana penalty also has a bonus effect, would be fair game.

Quality should increase the chill duration quite a bit, there should be no MS bonus from quality. Another option is giving quality some (melee) phys mana leech. I said that once, but I got all the mana leech I need and you still hop around like a bunny and end up... at some point bunny hop gets you so mad that you do wish you could shout all your frustration an 1 inch from the GGG dev that did this :P

It should be the pen ultimate challenge: play "x" hours using flicker strike/ leap slam + AA + melee skill.

Please fix the deactivation when you change zones of artic armour and tempest shield, make them work like auras, where once activate will remain so until deactivated.

If is a programming difficult, good luck solving it, but keep on trying cause is essential.
