For the CWdT and Ball Lightning setup... does CWdT need to be in the top left for the setup to work or can it be anywhere like the other CWdT setups?
I didn't see a disclaimer in that section of guide saying that combo didn't need a specific order.

Order shouldn't matter.

My understanding is that when one trigger (eg. CwDT) triggers several other gems, they are triggered in the order they are socketed, so it matters if the cast order matters for any specific reason, which is the case in some builds.

In this case tho, at the bottom of the gems section it explains that we are using the level requirements to make sure that the CwDT can only apply to Ball Lightning, which triggers Curse on Hit, which triggers only the curse. So there is no case of one gem triggering several in this link.
Hey Wrecker Suporex here, this is my PSN test account. I tried SMZ and it was fine but I was reading that summoners struggle with HoGM and decided to use your suggestion and go with RF HAPPY.

My thoughts:
1. leveling to 45 was dreadful, you wouldn't believe how many times I wanted to quit and try something different. I think for this build you should have dedicated section for leveling until RF. I went with sunder and tried all the tips for leveling with sunder I could find, even bought 2 uniques but it was bad.

2. I went with exactly your suggestion for gems, but leveled scorch ray in offhand thinking about HoGM later. I really miss movement skill, I move so slow, even though I can kill fast. I was thinking about droping that 3L with Cyclone, add scorch ray to RF as 6L and then get maybe shield charge for movement. What you think, will that work?

3. I got lucky and got Tabula rasa drop hence I switched to RF at around 45 as I was able to sustain it with health flasks. OMG bro it went to overdrive. First time I face tank Kitava, I actually face tanked everything from act 5 forward. OH when I did switch I did lab and took the Valco for regen as I always can deal with fire res with items. This helped a lot and actually potions are not needed anymore as enduring cry does insane heal.

So thanks for your builds, they are easy for console gaming, too easy even. 1-2 buttons play is fun on pad. I am researching some more and will start my Platinum run soon I think (trying to learn about harvest crafting as I am lost at the moment and trying to figure out how much cluster jewels would help and how to implement them in tree)

PS. As you like those automated builds I think you should look into ED+Con+Bane+soulrend spellsinger and maybe add it to your collection. I have seen one guy play that and it looks like 1 button fun.
That's really the thing with RF builds. Levelling through 45-55 (depending on what kind of items you can get) is kind of a pain in the ass.

But that payoff when you finally switch on RF and your life doesn't move, and every enemy around you is dying almost before their health bars can appear on the screen... hoo boy is that worth all of the struggle.

For me this league, I wasn't able to sustain RF until around level 50 or so. Until then, I just used Cyclone for my damage, but I won't lie, I was hardly doing anything.

The thing was, though, even though my output was rubbish, I was 100% unkillable. My regen wasn't quite high enough for RF, but damn was it ever high enough to face-tank everything the game could muster up till that point, including Kitava, lab traps, and fully charged Cruel Izaro.

So there was no difficulty at all, just had to spend some extra time getting through the content. And for me, that's a tradeoff I can comfortably make every league. I much prefer being unkillable over having high DPS.
For anyone interested, I think I’ve found a decent option for leveling: Incinerate

Still in early levels, but it’s going a lot smoother than trying to rely on melee-physical or melee-fire skills. Two main caveats: 1) not a league starter or early SSF, you will need get a Templar, Witch, or Shadow up to Siren’s Cadence quest for the skill gem (and support gems), and 2) it’s very INT heavy, needs a Lapis amulet pretty much immediately
Hi there,

I have loved playing your RF build for two seasons now. And I struggle deeply with the end game. I was wondering if you could take a look at my gear/tree and give me some idea of where I went wrong? I am at level 89 on this particular chieftain. I just find, when there's a group I get zapped hard. I love the podcast, btw!

The character for this build is erisharvestchorson, thanks for any advice.

Because of the layout of the build, the only way to really clear Incursions faster is with more damage

I'm running Flame Dask now after suggestions above, and HECK, instant love. I'm zooming around like crazy, there is no way I'm dropping this gem. And it's fire, so if I place it in a 6L chest it will also benefit from all of the support gems. Or do you think it would be better to use Efficacy in my 6L and place Flame Dash somewhere else? An unset ring? Or, what other gem would you drop for it? Or try to get an item that provides the same support gem one of our links has. I've seen shields with Fortify, though only lvl 14 or something.

I honestly don't have any other suggestions from Ball Lightning. It's by far my favourite. It has a great reach both to the side and travels to the end of the screen.

But BL shoots out in one direction only, while Arc goes around. Plus, if I hit Vaal Arc, it curses the entire screen (and more), then Vaal Cyclone to pull them in.

Ice Nova would work fine for sure. Just keep in mind it won't chill enemies

I considered it only for the chill, so RIP.

Unfortunately, only the +1 to Fire Gems will help this build.

Wait, what about the +% Fire damage?

Speaking of... of I understand correctly, Fire damage, Ele damage and Over time damage +% all work for RF right? Any preference between these? Also, does Spell damage +% work?
Hey StormHUN!

I'm glad Flame Dash was your answer! Everyone has a different playstyle and I'm glad it was a simple inclusion that made the difference for you. If you're happy with the damage of RF as a 5 link (I am), putting Flame Dash as your 6-link is a great idea! The build has a lot of synergy between gems so I'm thinking that if you didn't want to do you 6-link idea, then the Unset Ring would be the next best thing.

You could definitely go ahead with Arc and Vaal Cyclone for sure. Anything you like. If you watch any of my play sessions with this build, you'll see Ball Lightning going off ALL the time. It also doesn't have a limit to how many enemies it hits while Arc only hits 7 enemies I think? But then, that's not really an issue because we only really care about the bosses anyway. Clearing isn't really an issue. So do your thing.

Increasing Fire, Elemental, and DOT all apply to RF damage. DOT Multipliers are the strongest of the mods for sure. The rest of the Increases all stack equally. Spell damage DOES NOT apply to RF damage. It's not well worded, but the only time DOT skills benefit from Spell damage is if the skill itself says "Increases to Spell Damage apply to this skill's Damage Over Time" (like it does with Vortex).

Oh and sorry, one more question:

To get the most of Elemental Equilibrium we should avoid Fire damage on weapons or Fire damage to hit as that would give enemies some fire resist, right?
Correct. We don't want to add fire damage to our Spells or Attacks.

Hi Rivenknoll! StormHUN is correct. Gem order does not matter at al for the Curse on Hit link we have in this build. There are circumstances where gem order does matter, but not in this build's layout.

Thanks for pointing it out! I have amended the guide as a result. Sorry about that!

Thanks for the honest feedback freshtester2000!

1. Some people miss the levelling section that I have because it's actually in the post below the original post of the guide. If you did see it, what recommendations would you make for the SSF experience? I honestly consider all content but likely won't bend on the mentality with which I "guide". But I've likely missed stuff and I'm all ears for ideas and such!
But StandardFiend summarized RF well. It's not a fast levelling experience. It has a huge payoff...and the price you pay is getting there.

2. I think your choice of going with SR in the 6 link is awesome and you should use whatever movement skill you want. If you are ok forgoing Fortify, you lots of people use Flame Dash instead of Cyclone as well. But make the build fun to play for YOU.

3. Awesome that you had a Tabula! Ya, Enduring Cry is insane. I wouldn't be surprised if the skill got reduced a bit in 3.12.

4. Thank you for your kindness! Good luck with your Platinum run! I hope you enjoy the build for the process.

5. Spell Slinger adds a whole lot of awesome ideas for the one-handed playstyle. My brain hasn't stopped ticking since it was released. Your suggestion is an awesome idea for sure!

Great post and thanks for your kind words :).
