Remove Pause from Hardcore

This isn't true. You can pause --> respawn at checkpoint --> immediately pause again and the game will respawn you at checkpoint while the game is still paused.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. If a player is disconnected, them pausing the game will do nothing. The game is not running client side... the client must request to the server to pause the state of the game.

Furthermore, GGG already has disconnect logic baked into the game and it has nothing to do with game pausing.

It's kind of related? The game is paused when you get disconnected, the game logic stops running on the server. When you log back in, it resumes where you were, with the game in a paused state (until you perform any action).

That specific kind of pausing is essential and we sure wouldn't want that removed.

I do it when i realize i clearly can't kill a boss, like when i run out of flasks, which is kinda IMPORTANT in a game that's new and i'm yet to see much of it; or when i see a new status appears and i need to see what it is (Myst King taught me to always do that).

It doesn't make hardcore "meaningless" either. Take it from someone who's yet to beat act 2 final on hcssf. I'm not 20 and honestly if not for the "respawn at checkpoint" i'd probably still be stuck in act 1. Like, i've seen people trying the mad wolf like 50 times on standard.

I also sometimes need to take a call or meet a courier or whatnot.

The way that streamer's doing it is lame but not really gamebreaking.


Get gud then. If you need to respawn its a skill issue.

I can certainly understand the argument that we can't know what to expect when facing new bosses, and we should be able to get out.

The original plan for PoE 2 was that creating portals would have been allowed during boss fights, with the action being canceled upon receiving any damage. If the boss would fully heal when coming back (if one even wants to), that would have been a nice, fair solution.

I do understand and respect the need to get the F out of some boss battles.

Not sure I feel the same about cheating death by respawning to checkpoint when surrounded and 7 milliseconds away from a certain death...

so you complain some people will abuse this system, while we lived with the logout macro for SO LONG?
Dude... if you dont want to use it, just dont use it! its not like someone is putting a gun on your head for you to use it.
i actually love the pause button: when my wife needs some help or i need to do something a bit urgent, i simply CAN GO! im not analysing frame by frame boss fight because i KNOW that would be boring so... whats the problem? i actually see no problem here, and honestly, for harcore players even more, the game is FULL of problems to solve.
Melee is one (well... there is monk, and while i think its quite fun, the others arent that good atm.)
defenses (aside from ES)
balance betwen skills...
and the list goes on...

Remove pause, or make a separate league where it doesn't exist. Can be otherwise exactly the same as HCSSF.

Hardcore isn't hardcore, it's semi hardcore for content for streamers. They get to pretend they're playing hardcore while having things they can do to prevent death. PoE1 has logout macro, PoE2 has pausing, Diablo 4 had death evasion potions, etc.

The mode is for content for streamers.
