Remove Pause from Hardcore
" Well your problem is easy to solve without GGG having to do anything. Just never use pause or logout and if your game crashes you delete your character instead of abusing any DC protection. Let´s go back to Diablo 2 hardcore on release where your ISP would kill you, B.net would kill you and your mistakes would kill you. |

Thats a good idea! Doesn't even need a separate league, just a separate ladder of "no respawn to checkpoints, x disconnects"

the thing is when you chose to play on hardcore league you have to make good choices and decisions before you choose to enter a fight and having the ability to just log out because you made bad intake or decision on how something works in the game or you are taking more damage than you were expecting it to be, it takes away the experience of actually playing hardcore and the real meaning of it. idk if you guys understand where i'm coming from. but this is literally no hardcore it should be rename to softcore relog league.
idk if you guys are actually scared of losing streamers or something but this is really really a joke at this point and the fact that you are allowing this is absolutely insane you are playing hardcore you chose to play that league you know you die you lose your char on that league and you have to start over, wanna keep playing your char than sure but your not on the hardcore league. so why are we allowing people to be able to log out? again this because you have contract with streamer?? or your scared of losing them?? or your scared of them looking like fools cleaning the floor every 10 levels? and starting over???? YOU KNOW THE RULES YOU SIGNED UP FOR IT! and than you choose to cheat by logging out before death because you made bad decision. this is what hardcore is all about who makes the correct decisions all the fucking time till they hit level 100. so your hardcore league can literally suck peep!. your not feeling it for the day, than don't log on your hardcore character. you been playing for 5 hours than take a break go play on trade league or SSF. it takes away the whole competition by being able to log out. if you would to playing any online games involving rankings and you know you cant perform after 5 hour session than don't play or you risk of losing ranks. again whoever your look at it this is really not hardcore this is a joke.... its the most softcore shit i have ever seen in any game i have played. i have 0 respect to anyone who is on hardcore league at this point. and your ranks and score means nothing but fake scores if i would look at someone who is level 90 or level 100 on hardcore i would be questioning and asking how many times did that person used a macro to log out. i would not even think that person is actually a good player... if you would ask any true hardcore player in any game or a true Esport player they will tell you the same unless they lack the skills to play on that level.... |

Agreed, this isn't call time-out in the middle of a fight in UFC. Everything happens real time. When the pause occurs in hardcore the boss should still be attacking and the player should stop. That'll teach them to pause.

it was always the meme back in 2013.
GGG were all hardcore players and they had pushed the most hardcore version of softcore in any arpg on the softcore playerbase because they were hardcore players and believed the game should be punishing. but then they had made the most softcore version of hardcore in any arpg for the hardcore players, with no timer meaning logout macro meta, your character still exists and is playable in standard if you manage to die so you can trade their gear and then cross league trade orbs back to standard hardcore or just use them in standard for testing. i dont rly care either way. ziz made a point in an interview with the devs where he said he preferred that you had a way to back out of the fight because if you didnt then you would never attempt the fight until you had overprepared to the point where there was no risk anyway. if you had the option to back out if things got tough then you are more likely to go into a fight unsure if you are ready for it and that makes for a more risky and challenging game. i think that was his point anyway i hope im not misrepresenting him. i dunno, i do get that point of view. it kind of feeds into the xp penalty threads we have had here for 12 years where the same kind of thing comes up where you have this conflict between making things challenging, making losing matter and making people avoid taking on real challenges. if you have the most punishing possible game mode hardcore, and then you have a really challenging piece of content in it the result isnt really the most risky thrilling gameplay most of the time. what you get is a person either avoids the content or they overgear/level/build it to the point where there is no risk. you often end up with the most boring safe gameplay possible while mathil in softcore with '/deaths 73' is running around doing a pin boss with 0 defence, minimum life, 10 levels too low for the content and is winging it having the most risky, thrilling, skill based gameplay of anyone playing the game. often the hardest version of poe is being played by the softcore players who dont care about dying. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

You can limit number of available pauses during boss fight to 3 pauses max.

You cannot prove loss of sale via piracy because the you cannot prove the individual would have bought the game if piracy was not an option.
Similarly, you cannot prove definitively a missplay should result in a death but is negated by pause feature because the player would not have put themselves in the risky situation if they did not have pause. The entire game is balanced around extreme damage bursts whereby if shit happens you more or less have no time to execute any counter play. There are countless bs one shots everywhere. Game is balanced with pause in mind. If pause is to be removed then the whole damage scaling will have to be more benign and you get a game like D4 where no one really cares about scrolls of escape because no one can really die on that game. ign: PhaseCharge

" Really bad example of a game-pause scenario, what with the titan boss being extremely buggy and dangerous (with its dagger pull issue that just now got fixed). Also, please stop asking for the game to be balanced and optimized around streamers. They are, afaik, not the majority of the playerbase. Lastly, I love the pause menu. For all the other situations in which I need the game paused. Work call and so on. I don't want to go to town to stay safe during that (which I can't anyway, cus no tp in boss rooms and there aren't just boss rooms that I'd rather not afk during a call in), especially if the phone call turns into a half an hour discussion. I don't want to not be able to pause the game in anyway (since portal to town is not allowed during boss fights) if there's an emergency. So, all in all, leave the game pause option be. Don't watch streamers that do it if you don't like to see it. Don't use the pause menu. Assuming all the bugs have been ironed out and all the mechanics balanced (which they weren't), you could maybe argue for a special "no game pause" mechanic during Gauntlets and such.
