Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?
It's not even about appealing to a broader audience. Since again, most players wont even hit the point where the exp-loss becomes infuriating.

" That can happen from level 70. Don't assume it's only those trying to get to 100 who get stuck in the low 90s who have issue with this. Players not getting to endgame is an issue but I think much less so than for POE1 because the gameplay is so much better. But for those who found that a challenge and are having fun figuring their way through the game, the XP loss suddenly kicking in will absolutely stop them in their tracks and send them packing. |

there's a simple solution for you all.
just git gud. |

" I think this is a pretty good solution. PoE1 tryhards wont whine that "the game got easier" (btw it wouldnt, thats not how difficulty works you idiots) and most of the players wont have to deal with tedious game design. Those obsessed with getting highest rankings and other BS can keep their BS. If i wanted leaderboards I would play CoD or some shit. More skill involved than "not getting killed". I would bet anyone whining git gud, are utterly shit in competitive games |

" Do you also want checkboxes like : ✔️ Infinite portal for maps ✔️ Enemy damage reduced by 90% ✔️ Always drop gear for your class ✔️ Campaign skip + ascendency points given That wouldn't make the game easier, right ? Last edited by dwqrf#0717 on Jan 8, 2025, 6:32:04 AM

Let's be honest, the vast majority of success in this game comes from time invested and the knowledge that comes with spending that time. Not skill. Sekiro takes skill. POE2 does not. Anyone who can beat Sekiro has more than enough skill to do well in POE2.
That's not to say it isn't fun, it is. They are very different games and that's OK. And some base level of skill is required. But nothing the vast majority of even casual gamers can't achieve. Saying "git gud" in POE makes zero sense. Because the solution constantly being put forward isn't "You need to learn the timing on those boss attacks and how to dodge, and consider using that tool to help against that attack and make sure you time it all correctly". No, the solution put forwards is "go and grind easy maps for 5 hours to get some upgrades and maybe another level to maybe help you farm the next tier of maps without dying enough that maybe you earn XP overall". That is not skill. It's time and patience. There would still be a perfectly good race for 99% of players without the XP loss if they just gave it some thought and found other ways to make not dying rewarding, so those who build in survivability would still have the advantage. From what GGG J has said they will be considering that and would be absolutely insane not to. It's actually both hilarious and worrying that his immediate response was that they hadn't thought about it. Last edited by Orion_3T#9801 on Jan 8, 2025, 6:44:04 AM

a solution would be, x% xp lost based on the difference of monster area level vs current level.
Increase waystone tier to 35. Done and done!!! |

" You're the exact kind of toxic troll that keeps the game from actually being good. If you think 100K players (and about 200K bots) playing the game is good then you haven't seen any of the "GOOD" games and how many people are playing those this soon after a release. Plus, the feedback is the same among people trying this game as they head to end-game. ALWAYS the same. Visit my Steam profile here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/TheBaconOverlord/

Getting to 100 in a Path of Exile game, whether POE1 or POE2, means and should mean:
- Constantly improving your gameplay - Continued investing in your gear until it gets super powerful - Continued investing in your gems to get the max power out of them - Figuring out skill and passive tree combinations to maximize damage output and defenses such that you clear maps without worry of death - Figuring out boss mechanics such that you kill them before they kill you The game is working as intended. If you want a different game where you can hit max level without having to do any of the above, go play that different game. | |
" Bots what? But okay lets talk about it. If bots dont lose xp even they would just bruteforce the game. If they didnt lose the map in death? This is all improving the longterm wellbeing of the game and tackling the bots in a good way. These posts are probably written by the ones running the bots imo. Being toxic? If thats how you feel then it kinda is your problem. Im just stating my opinion and if that is too much for you being disagreed with then maybe you shouldnt talk to people until we all live in a single mind society. |
