Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?
Bottom line:
In an ARPG Fun = Progression.. not being able to progress because there are penalty mechanics in place makes this literally not a fun game and everyone sprints to get there, slams into it and does the same thing... "screw this, I quit" That's not fun. That's frustration. Visit my Steam profile here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/TheBaconOverlord/

I dont get it - if it is so easy to copy best ladder build and kill everyone with 1 button why even worry about penalty?

All the exp penalty does is make it even more tedious and annoying. There's no skill involved anywhere, so it's not really an "achievement". Just shows that someone spent X hours doing the same monotonous activity over and over. Pretty much the same as any grind in an MMO lmao
Bro got filtered so hard he lives on the forums complaining all day about everything that is preventing his own enjoyment in the game be removed. Even though the vast majority like these things You are in the minority | |
" I've never petitioned to remove the penalty. If you read back in this thread i said i played diablo 2 as a kid, im used to it and indifferent to wether its changed or not. I'm simply stating facts from my experience. I've leveled to 100 in poe1, and i have 2 characters over 90 in poe2. Im fine if the exp penalty stays, but people acting like level 100 is a challenge or real achievement are contributing severely biased and some outright false information. |

" this primarily affects who do not want to copy whatever is on the ladder. majority of the players use no third party tools, have no experience and want to do their own thing. You speak from the view of a veteran player, also this would bring into question the problem that is build diversity. |

" sorry if i mistook your position, but now you just sound arrogant. if you don't feel challenged then no one is challenged by it? i mean i was agreeing with you that a stat check isn't a skill check and that it would be nice if end game was a skill check instead, but i can't get behind this kind of lack of perspective. challenge isn't objective. |

" Surely the "vast majority" enjoy these penalties. That's why there's so many threads popping up about both exp loss and 1 portal per map right? That's why they have 90% of people saying "+1" and agreeing while the other 10% just keep defending these mechanics for no reason. Surely. You're the one in the minority. Checkmate. |

" I'm not sure either of you are in a position to claim who the majority is with any certainty. The majority don't bother to comment at all. They just play the game and/or quit silently. Last edited by drkekyll#1294 on Jan 3, 2025, 7:17:38 PM

" We all agree it should never be removed from Path of Exile. We're talking about a totally different game, made with a different design philosophy. " Let's say they added a "Rock of Pain and Woe" in the town hub. If you bash your character's head against the rock 100,000 times without logging off, you gain level 100. That would be tedious, slow, boring, and require perseverance. Would it be challenging? Rewarding? Last edited by Mouser#2899 on Jan 3, 2025, 7:21:55 PM

" The thing GGG fear the most is build diversity. They keep saying they want it in the game, but as soon an interesting build comes up... GGG nerfs it down the gutter. Than they blame the players for "just play the Meta". Death penalty - an arcaic mechanic that is cool to have on GGG games, just because "no one else use it anymore, is Unique to PoE and PoE2" and some 20 years old obsolete dead games. Exp penalty is just a gatcha tool to retain playtime... like those cooldowns in mobile games. Last edited by Fhrek#4437 on Jan 3, 2025, 7:20:04 PM
