The reason why XP penalty exists and why it's not for everyone

Well, Path of Exile 2 and 1, are not games for everyone, so yeah.

I believe XP penalty should stay. People should be punished for bad builds or mistakes. Reaching level 100 should take LONG time and not be a goal really.

If you believe reaching level 100 should be something almost anyone should achieve within the season/league, just go back to D4.

"just go back to D4"

Sounds pretty trollish and exactly what you would expect to hear from POE 1 players.

Anyone saying EXP penalties have a place in a PVE game aren't being honest with anyone especially themselves.

Not according to the die-hard white knights that are filtering over from POE 1...

They feel the game is "PERFECT" which is why hardly any of them have ever supported it.

If it started removing levels I'd agree with you

But GGG decided reaching level 100 was an actual achievement, it's not that big of a deal unless you think everyone should be on 100 as a starting point

You look like you've been playing this game long enough to realise "level 100" in this game has a significantly different meaning from "level 60" in diablo

An "actual achievement" of... what?

Being able to actually finish your build and start playing the end-game?

Most people view having all the points for their build as the START to end-game, not something you can never get to because it's gated by exp penalties.

That doesn't even make sense in a PVE game nor should it "mean" anything different from any other game, lol. Plus what level 60? You mean Paragon 300? When's the last time you even played D4, but you're still misusing it as an example of course.

Yes, "completing" your build is an end goal, and if you think those last two points are defining your build...

And I deliberately missed paragon points because it kind of proves the point why handing everyone level 100 is bad. Because then everyone wants a new levelling up experience. You get to level 60 in diablo and then what? You sit on a grindstone for ever raking out an extra attribute to add to the thousands you already have. Pointless waste of time and completely meaningless

I guess GGG forgot their target audience for POE 2. It's not the POE 1 addicts.

"I deliberately missed paragon points"

Yet your example didn't make sense without it and makes even LESS sense with it.

There are no exp penalties in... really any other online ARPG out there. Just this one.

"And then what?"

I mean, you do realize there are tons of things to do in Diablo 4 end-game right?

Bosses, NM dungeons, world bosses, Seething Realms, Realm walkers, infernal hordes, Pit runs, Helltides, etc. etc. etc. Whereas POE 1 and 2 have "mapping" and that's it. So, you're really fighting a losing battle when you try to compare D4 to POE 2, bud.

An achievement of literally throwing your time in the trash. It's a useless push. It's too much xp and there's no actual incentive outside the skill point. It's a flex, is all.

I'm curious though... since there is limited contact with other players in this game and you can't even see someone else's level unless you happen to mouse-over them in the very few towns where people even are visible... how is it a "flex"?

The paragon board is blizzard's answer to all the screaming that they can't get max level within a few days. It's good design from that front, but really bad in every other way. That board fizzles into nothing like no one's business but hey, there are 300 points, they have to be worth something right...
