The reason why XP penalty exists and why it's not for everyone
" huh? the XP penalty starts at lvl 85 |

" it starts somewhere before level 80. |

I am absolut PRO exp-penalty. And against the ability to "hammer head forwared" to 100 without consequenzes. And before level 90 noone realy feels the exp-penalty anyway I belive (except your build or your skill is realy realy bad).
Maybe the expectation of "you must get max level" is more of a problem. Absolut no need to! In PoE 2 my goal is level 90, up to 95 is bonus, past that I don't care at all :). If it happens that my char by exident becomes 96 or even 97 there will for sure be any usefull passive I can spent the point on ;). But I addmit it is part why I never plan past level 95 in PoE 1. Past 95 it's just to much "work" and hard grind to me. And I am fine with this! It just does not fit together with the 1 portal penalty. Combiened they are to much penalty. Which on its own with the rarity of Citadels is far to much of a penalty I belive. AND ... I don't realy know any game without exp-penalty. EvE online when I played it had it. Dark Age of Camelot, WoW when I played it, Last Epoch, Diablo had it, any MMO I played has/had it. So I don't realy understand why it is discussed at all. Some sort of console/handhelt p2w behavior? " If WoW had it, it didn't last long. Last Epoch doesn't have it. MMO you played 20 years ago might have had it, yes. I'm sure there's more MMO without xp death penalty than with it. So yes, that's why it's being discussed. |

EXP loss is annoying, dated and it should not be a thing. Everytime I die now past level 90 due to lag, or some weird thing, or maybe I was just having fun watching a youtube video while I grinded a lower level map and some random juiced up mob appears when im not paying full attention kills me.. I just log off for the rest of the night pissed off. How is this helping the game?
It's just bad. |

I'm against dying without any consequences. Then what's the point of trying to get better? Just keep grinding mindlessly, keep dying, and keep grinding until you reach lv 100?
You know mapping is called "Endgame" right? You can die in the campaign without any penalty already, and just a little penalty from dying in endgame, its very mild and acceptable already. And why so many people keep saying 10% this 10% that? The game has 2 Omens to help you from dying/the XP penalty, 1st is the Omen which fully heal you when you reach low life (30%), 2nd is the Omen to reduce XP penalty from 10% to 2.5%. If you are below lv 90, 10% is like what, a few maps? If you can't do a few maps without dying, then it's a skill issue, and you shouldn't complain about XP penalty, just git gud. After lv 90, you should always have those 2 Omens in your inventory, and if you keep dying, then you should worry about your gear and build rather than your exp. Hey, some people say they don't want to feel gatekept because of the XP penalty, they want to reach lv 100 and finish the game at their own pace. Do you also say that "bosses should not kill me, I should be able to kill bosses without any struggles so that I can finish the game?" Stop it, get some help. |

Dying without consequences...
Loosing the juicy MAP Loosing the juicy Waystone Loosing all time invested in the map Yeah... Loosing 10% EXP makes better the game... I'ts riddiculous. I've reached T16+ and done with 82 bosses with all the points and yeah... wow... Endgame is not really challenging if you have luck upgrading the Waystone. Yeah... how the skill or the challenge for a game is... You loose you're done and you loose time and EXP invested. Make harder content and leave the penalty. Who cares about who climb first the ladder, we are not complaining about it. We only just enjoy the game and end our not meta build with all the attribute points invested. GGG can make a true game banger and it's in their hands. |

These people arguing for XP loss would be happy to lose even more if they could. It doesn't make any sense. We already lose all sorts of stuff when we die, and the omen thing, I didn't even know about it, first off, second why not just tune it down to 2.5 instead of having to have some stupid item. That's so damn silly.......

I'm not happy about losing XP, but it's a part of the game, so I factor it into how I play and work out how to avoid death (sometimes it means creating an entirely new character because the one I chose sucked at staying alive),
BUT: level 100 is very far from mandatory, so if I'm enjoying a character that dies a fair bit, I just put a line through getting high level The omen is a currency sink. If you're not bothered about XP loss you can sell it to someone who is |

" My apologies, what i meant here is that the grind to 100, even without XP penalty (or you not dying) is long and tedious. Sorry for the confusion mate! ;) |
