You're making an ARPG in 2025, but you're stuck in 1999
If poe2 doesn't diverge from poe1 they won't attract a broader audience

Well said sir. This is why they will never be the best.

" Diverge HOW exactly? I am fine with changes but every change they made was to the best systems of PoE1 (making them significantly worse) and they kept the WORST systems of PoE1 untouched. They literally did the complete opposite of what should have been kept/changed and ironically it has crippled their 'vision' out of the gate. Last edited by fouquet#0993 on Jan 11, 2025, 4:06:19 AM

Another agreement with the OP. I've tried to give the game a chance with over 200 hrs but I keep logging out annoyed or slightly pissed off at not one small thing but many all stacking up to agitate me.
The worst part is I know the game could be amazing but probably never will be because of GGG's own philosophies. I'm sure it'll attract a lot of new players who end up treating it as a one and done game rather than something they play hundreds of hours each league. |

It's sad to see that they brought the worst of PoE1 to PoE2 and even improved the bad things. Now they stop making such promises and actually make a game that looks like it's from 2025, and not a bad game from 2000. These developers' heads are stuck in time, everything that's boring and bad they think is a layer of “difficulty.” ”, it’s just really bad.

" It's just wasting and not respecting player time. Horrible game design. | |
op think is in title of everything
why i have to pick up gold on the ground in 2025 ? why i have to pick up stuff on the ground why i have to put socket in gear why i can not fly why i can not clean the map in one click is 2025 why i have to press click to use my potion and not automatically use at 25% why i have to play the game typical modern players play my first rpg on the intellivision :)

" For OP, this pretty much sums up your thread. Look, there are boomers and zoomers (or whatever is the latest iteration on this, can't bother keeping up with the latest internet slang) and both want something else from the game. That's it, right there. The devs are tailoring the game more towards the boomer audience (all the D2 references and stuff), but they also have a vision which is saying that it's not always fun to have everything easy and automated (this is supported by science). This certainly doesn't work for 2025 modern gamers on constant dopamine withdrawal. There is no way to satisfy both groups, or all groups/people for the matter. Unlucky for you to be in the "non-targeted" group. But lucky for you, there's plenty other games which are going to give you exactly what you're looking for. Funnily enough, this vision of the game does work for me and I fall in the "5 kids, 3 work, boomer" category. And even though I don't have that much time, I'm having a blast with the game and I couldn't care less about having to click to identify an item. Afterall, I'm not racing anyone or anything. I would only be racing to boredom if I wanted to just automate everything and speedrun till I'm 1-shotting screens while watching netflix on my 2nd one. The game just might not be for you, which is fine. Cheers |

" No. Both the post you quoted and your own are relying on the slippery slope fallacy. Learn how to argue in good faith if you want to be taken seriously. |
