SSF / HCSSF feels dogshit to play
While Act 1 has Beira and Act 3 has the 2 rares in Sandswept Marshes, the beetle being removed leaves a hole in Act 2 / 5 without any good farming spots.
Act 2 is probably the biggest difficulty spike (Deshar / Dreadnought) where you want to have good gear, too. Gear and currency droprates being balanced around Rarity adds to the problem, and turns Rarity into a mandatory stat, even over your resistances in HC. Without Rarity, obtaining Regal and Exalt Orbs to be able to craft is borderline impossible. And Gold to gamble for items from Finn / Risu / Alva is lacking as well. Even when we find an Orb, the likelihood of rolling an unusable affix and/or a low tier affix even for high level items is just too high, and adds to the frustration. Even more so, because the game lacks an actual crafting system. Proposed solutions: - remove Rarity - tweak the droprates being so heavily balanced around Rarity - implement an actual crafting system - improve the weighting of good affixes on items - improve affix tier weighting on items based on your character's level Last edited by Fae_Lyth#6750 on Jan 12, 2025, 2:15:03 PM Last bumped on Jan 19, 2025, 2:03:08 AM

as long as you're not constantly dying and as long as you make it to maps and farm a few hours you shouldnt have an issue. At least im not. Im also playing shit builds on titan for the most part not something thats op.

" In my SSF experience maps are worse as suddenly enemies are doing 2x or 3x damage than in act6. I had to make 2nd ssf character metaslave infernalist minion just to get out of dying in t1 to t3 maps constantly. And even this one is not getting or crafting any useful gear now entering T6 maps (still using +1 minion helmet I got in Act 2..). At least now I am dying every 6th map instead of every 3rd.. The only defense you need in the campaign is patience and dodge roll. The density isnt high enough to overwhelm and kill you otherwise.
If you cant beat the campaign because you are bound by ssf rules idk what to tell you. I spent most of the campaign with < 30 all res on my first char in hcssf. You probably have an unrealistic expectation of kill/clear speed. |

" until around t10 maps i didn't really notice it ramping over my gear level. It just all takes patience. |

Sheesh... some peeps are thick around here.
OP is right! SSF drop rates are worse than dogwater, there is no crafting to use as a crutch, item on vendors are RNG garbage. The best you can do is check all vendors you can everytime you level up, once in a blue moon a magic (cheap blue thrash) item is available with an decent combo of affix and suffix that you may try Regal it to get a third good... but, most the time will be Reduce Attributes or Light Radius or Gain 3 MP when slain monster. Reach maps is a feat of patience and stubborness. But is doable, not enjoyble... doable. Doing maps is best to roll a new character, otherwise, you will more on the forum waiting the Sunday Annuncement. Last edited by Fhrek#4437 on Jan 10, 2025, 9:36:04 PM

" If you're playing hc its never a bad idea to just make a new character if you hit a gear wall. Especially in this game where you can get a bunch of exalts and regals from all of the campaign uniques you will fight on the way. |

I started on HCSSF and spent the first hourish just farming ice witch and dweller boss over and over until i had full rares which allowed me to blast through until around act 3 then i got one shot by monkey. You can use a similar method of farming bosses and praying for gear drops but I do agree its pretty rough starting fresh as SSF
