I started on HCSSF and spent the first hourish just farming ice witch and dweller boss over and over until i had full rares which allowed me to blast through until around act 3 then i got one shot by monkey. You can use a similar method of farming bosses and praying for gear drops but I do agree its pretty rough starting fresh as SSF
I wanted to test your experience. So I went and made my first HCSSF character. Halfway to level 5, I've slapped together a few bits and pieces (from Renly, mostly) to get me past 20% MF. Spent the next hour bullying Beira, all the way to level 6, smacking only a few mobs on the way that were too stubborn to back off.
This was the result. Upper left - random rares she dropped. Upper right - rare currency she dropped. Bottom right, rares she dropped that I've indentified in the hopes they'll have any value for the build I chose. Bottom left - items that were useful to me:
It shouldn't be that bad.
A few days ago I've grinded Cruel Act 1 for 7 hours trying to fix my resistances, with 78% MF. I eventually raged and slapped Geonor silly without having changed a single piece of my gear. But, hey! that was on trade HC, so it would make sense, with the Trade being the only reason GGG wants to make PoE. And gambling, but mostly trade. Everything boils down to trade.
However, SSF has no trade. And the cautious approach recommended to crawl through the campaign, while possible, is anything but fun, when map bosses drop 2 blue items with T2 health or T1 resist (mind you, 1 resist, not more, yeah?). Yet we've heard in interviews about how rewarding campaign map bosses are and as such, not necessary to adjust drop rates, till late in the game.

And that's *with* Act 1 having a semi-decent farming spot.
Now think of Act 2 where the difficulty spikes with the Vile Vultures jumping at you in Deshar, and there not being any farming spot whatsoever in Act 2.
It's miserable.

Thanks for the research and report. I was to do something like that, but it is so tedious I was postponing until hear what GGG has to say tomorrow.
Anyone that still defending this game from a SSF/HCSSF perspective is just trolling or fanboying. The play experience is miserable, it is not hard or challenging or slow paced, is just tedious chore.

It is tedius. SSF is meant for people who like the tedium. if you make it from lvl 1-85 in 1 day and are just grinding maps thats just not that much fun over a 4 month period. Thats why ssf exists.
What i will say about act 2 is i dont like how the 3 quests have level scaling, water, mastadon, and titan quests. This is not fun to me, i would rather have it static level.

You're right, I am confused about my own opinion.

As long as you're not constantly dying refers to the fact that you get a character to lvl 50 and spend 10 exalts and regals crafting its gear then you die again.
Why don't you check my characters on my account before you try to flame me that i dont know anything about hcssf.
I'm literally playing it, check poe-racing i have a number 1 ascendancy win in gauntlet.
I'm not a potato. You just don't know how to read.
I have never farmed a beetle for anything in ssf.
Keep in mind, not everyone is constantly scouring the internet for degen strats to farm gear in ssf. Some people play the game. If you didn't know that killing monsters is how you get gear. If you do that instead of finding degen strats you will find the gear you need.

Honestly i'm ok with tedium in the endgame, but i don't think the campaign is meant for grinding. There's nothing worse than grinding the SAME map for hours (i know, that's the kind of endgame a lot of players unhappy with the new atlas want right now, but personally i find it moronic and boring).

Ok, so what's your act 2 farming spot?

I don't mind grinding. The problem is that act 2s single grinding spot was removed. We can't even grind properly if we want to.

I don't farm in any zone in the campaign, i just go through the campaign and when i have no gear i just dodge everything. I'm in act2 cruel on my 3rd titan right now with a weapon i put on at lvl 22. It is painful but doable.
People overfarmed in poe1 in innocence chamber in hc and if you like dying to revanants you do it in blood aquaducts. Its nothing new for people to farm in the campaign and its not local in poe2.
