PoE Forums Are Broken – How to Fix Toxicity & Engagement
" To be fair, the PoE 1 community started being toxic when people was dividing in "Content Creators Factions", if you didn't agree with the holy words of [insert streamer name] you're automatic a hater. Only blame GGG has is leaning hard on the cater the CC/Streamers min/maxers, their fanbases just follow their discourses. |

This thread is kinda ironic, creating a thread which is nothing but quotes, I hope you realize doing that feeds the toxicity? Also most of the toxicity I see is people getting emotional and mad at the game, yes sometimes it's justified but most of the time it's nothing but venting, entitlement, lack of accountability, lack of self control and just lacking in maturity in general which believe it or not causes friction and arguing.

" Toxicity: Writing everything in capslock, using strong language like "Fuck GGG" and coming up with unplausible conspiracy theories like "GGG took our money and abandoned the game". These kind of topics rarely have any constructive feedback at all and are only there to provoke people, which always leads to people flaming each other in the end. It's not a good culture to solve actual problems of the game. " If op of a topic is absolutely toxic, it should be closed If only certain answers in a topic are toxic, the answers (and not the whole topic) should be closed " I dont mind if someone doesn't like PoE2 or criticize it. There are alot of things I would like to see changed too and I already created threads about these topics (warrior, trade etc.). But I can do all of that without acting like a kindergarden child. For me, there is a difference between critizing the game or just being plain toxic about it. The former helps, the other just makes the whole community more and more toxic. More then it needs to be. And sadly, these toxic people don't just disappear. They stay here and flood all kind of topics with their toxocity, even derailing good and constructive topics. And if that happens, GGG should intervene, because the worst thing that can actually happen is, that the toxic people drive the constructive people away and in the end, only the toxic ones will stay. |

" Yeah, moving the topics would also help. Here is an online definition of online-toxicity: "rude, aggressive, and degrading attitudes" https://thedecisionlab.com/insights/health/tdl-brief-online-toxicity Last edited by AceNightfire#0980 on Feb 13, 2025, 12:41:29 PM

" Holy you are insanely toxic. You should understand that being friendly is basically a rule. Your whole demeanor tells me that you break these rules constantly. You have no manners. You put yourself in the victim position. You not a victim. Even if you might think you are. ![]() Okay this tells me everything i need to know. Btw if youre not putting up with this anymore why are you still here? ![]() Last edited by Alzucard#2422 on Feb 13, 2025, 1:01:11 PM

" Toxic af. Did nobody teach you proper manners? People like you are the reason we need more moderation. If people like you cant give objective constructive feedback and resort to ad hominem nonsense then moderation is required. Btw i dont think you know what ad hominem actually is. You dont seem to be of the educated kind. So here is what ad hominem means. https://www.txst.edu/philosophy/resources/fallacy-definitions/ad-hominem.html Last edited by Alzucard#2422 on Feb 13, 2025, 1:41:47 PM

Angry POE1 Grognards: constant, neverending stream of bile, vitriol and venom about the new game, well beyond anything resembling 'feedback' and usually just bitching about how literally any form of change from POE1 is Horrible Forever(!!!)
A Few Reasonable People: "Hey guys, this is honestly ridiculous and has long since stopped serving any real purpose. Can we maybe take it down a notch?" Angry PoE1 Grognards: explosive, hypertoxic invective about people Oppressing Their Opinions, white-knighting for GGG, and how everything is All Your Fault for being too stupid to jump on the hatewagon and work yourself into a slobbering berserker shitfit about PoE2 not being an exact dupliclone of PoE1 Ahhh, the beauty of the forums. And people ask me why I actively tell people to avoid Path the First these days. |

" People mostly stop answering. If you call out their nonsense. They have nothing more to say. They dont have arguments in the first place. If someone is Toxic and basically has only insults to tell, then you have two options. Call the person out or ignore it. You cant argue with someone who didnt make any arguments. " Uh, I made the opposite experience. When I went toxic mode 1-2 times, the people on the other side just got more toxic. And that went on until the topic derailed and no one participated anymore. And that was the moment the thread went into oblivion. Toxicity never helps the game in the end. You may have "won" the argument when you were the last to answer, but you lost the war - that is, to make this game better. That's why we bought EA, isn't it? That's why we invested money and time. We wanted to be part of this new game that has the potential to be the best ARPG that has ever existed. While it still has many flaws, it's still in EA and many changes will happen. The best way we can participate while its in EA is to give good constructive feedback and make suggestion on how to make the game better. But trading toxicity between players? I doubt that this will help. |
