0.10.8 Patch Notes

Regarding the ground effects and unlucky/unlucky:
These are related to item mods on the new unique items. As we don't explain these mechanics on the items, and they don't appear anywhere else (yet), I wanted to make sure the general mechanics were explained.

Regarding Lunaris Level 2 waypoint, and Lunaris Level 3:
We did suggest it would change, but in testing we didn't find it was needed. Lunaris Level 3 has been reduced in size by around 15%, I'll update the patch notes!

Regarding complaints about maps and changes:
Lets see how it goes, a lot of these changes are changes that have been repeatedly asked for, the ability to run higher level content without maps and easier to get started with maps. These changes will be further changed if they need to be.

Big thank you for clarification!

Any hint when the patch hits live? :>

I'm just...... waiting... :D

None of these changes address any of the problems that I've had with maps, personally. Making it easier to get 66 maps, and easier to run content comparable to 66 maps, doesn't solve the problem that it feels impossibly tedious to progress past 66-68 maps. 'Wait and see' when I've already been waiting and grinding and waiting and grinding basically makes me want to poke my eyes out. I don't need to wait and see to tell you I'm sick and tired of 66 maps. I'm tired of grinding for days for a brief shot at anything worthwhile. I'm tired of using alchs and chaoses and chisels on 70-73 maps, and getting absolutely nothing out of those maps, and having to start the whole thing over again. And I have less faith now that it'll be changed than I did yesterday, or a week ago. That's pretty depressing.

Yes please, this change sounds delicious. I was honestly disappointed with that passive as it stands now, but now I won't feel as guilty having taken it.

You'd better listen to the "hard"core players, they cement the community. They are the ones that can play for years.
Make the game funnier and rewarding for lvl75+ before they leave !

im sorry what was that mojuba? something about listening to players? you should really get EVIDENCE for your baseless accusations of GGG NOT listening to its players.

when we asked for a better drop system it came, when we asked for trade chat it came (though it was expected anyway eventually i guess), practically everything requested so far by the community, GGG has delivered (shutup about the desync yah capitalist pawns) now here comes something players are ASKING for, once again, changes WILL happen, remember folks it is: B.E.T.A , YOUR TESTING THE GAME, THERE WILL BE BUGS, CONTENT CHANGES, ADJUSTMENTS ACCORDINGLY, REWORKINGS AND BALANCES.

if you wanna leave the game in beta, come back when its released, be my guest. ITS BETA FOR A REASON. so either shut up and give feedback, explain WHY it needs SLIGHT changes IN DETAIL, or go play D3 where the devs dont listen to shit you say.

higher difficulty areas make it easier to get to the right level to START the maps, once you reach solaris 3 merciless? you dont haveto go anywhere else but maps (though cmon, 2 sp for piety).

suggest improvements, tweaks, and changes, NOT slander and contraband about why you dont like it. people wanna farm outside maps and screw themselves? their choice. but your also forgetting something. maps are not JUST for leveling endgame, you cant get mods to increase your quantity from farming piety. a hardcore player aint gonna do something repeatedly for little reward, they are gonna farm maps when its good for them, startin at the bottom of the barrel, and workin their little ass up the map ladder. you get poor drops in the maps? make some bloody friends to run em with so you can get more.

you want them to adjust the new system? like i said, if people ASK for these changes, then get people to start ASKING for the tweaks and improvements that would make said change, completely worthwhile, they listen, thats their job now. they aint gonna kill their game like D3 apparently did (never played cant say anymore) or screw their games over like EA tends to do by completely ignoring the community.

in conclusion, play nice, make friends, improve the damn community to its rightful state that once existed before i felt like ranting like a psychotic midget riding a skateboard through the mall wearing a yoda outfit screaming the fork be with you.

exactly.. this doesn't help really anyone. when I needed 66-68 maps to progress or 66-68 zone to progress it was easy and I never ran out of those maps.. who does this patch help?

Please let people take on higher challenge to get more xp. Running low level maps is really unappealing when your a much higher level.

I understand your frustration, but we are exiles, not ordinary folk. Criminals of a lesser nature would simply be burned at the stake or beheaded. The path we walk is the path that Dominus fears and dreads.

Keep in mind:

Act 3 added 5 levels to the game, and with this patch it will be ten levels of challenge. As Chris said, the upcoming patch means players can hit level 84 before hitting a significant XP penalty.

And the game is still beta.

contrast that with the Diablo 2 and 3 beta which only had a single act. I didn't participate in the D3 beta, but I recall getting to level 23 was quite a grind in the D2 beta.

That Grinding Gear Games is allowing players to get to level 84 before any real XP penalty kicks IN THE BETA should tell you something very significant.

What it should tell you is that they are trying to craft and balance the game based on real live player input. We are the infinite number of monkeys clicking away frantically trying to find some extra advantage in the game.

When we fail miserably because of game design, GGG can see it and carefully try to fix it (which is evidenced by such things as the recent skill gem changes). When we saunter through the game with a click click here and a click click there, here a click, there a click, everywhere an OP click - then GGG can note that as well and tone down the skill, passive node or items responsible.

Right now, it looks to me as if GGG is still trying to fine tune the level 80ish stuff. Venturing into the 90ish stuff would be unwise until the earlier XP levels are balanced.

As for getting more XP - when I just checked a moment ago - the character HVR on default was at level 99, and in Hardcore the character TheTheory was at level 96.

So... clearly it's possible if you really want to put the effort into it.

IIRC, when the content ended in act 2 at much lower levels, Gorlak was at level 84.

The path of exiles is never an easy path. The fact that we choose to continue down that path despite the deaths and frustrations is part of why Dominus fears us.

Thank you.
There can only be one Oatmeal.
Could a dev update us on the hidden 45 second logout timer? I lost my level 84 character with around 35 ex worth in items because Perpetus(level 63) attacked me for 25 seconds straight when I DCed.

The light warp note is a tiny bit cryptic, but it doesn't seem that the issue of trap combined with light warp has been fixed. Currently it just teleports in a (mostly) random direction, making this interaction useless, I'd love for this to change and have the trap auto target a unit it can actually reach (not inside its min range), or for the min range to be removed when attached to trap.

I know its a very little used interaction, but its terribly useless as of now.
