From Hype to Disappointment: How Patch 0.2.1 Ruined the Chase
The latest 0.2.1 patch is honestly so disappointing that it’s made me not want to play anymore. Why? Imagine playing for two months, grinding hard to earn in-game currency, saving up just to buy valuable, pinnacle items like Kalandra's Touch or Rite of Passage. These items used to be special, rare and meaningful. But now? They drop so often that nobody even wants to buy them. Can you imagine how that feels?
I kept a Rite of Passage as an investment, believing it was a late-game trophy worth chasing. But I didn’t expect GGG to make endgame items drop so easily that they’ve completely lost their value. If even the rarest items become common, what’s left to aim for? What’s the point of grinding for divines and buying expensive gear when that gear becomes worthless a few days later? I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. There’s nothing left to chase, nothing to show off, and no reason to keep grinding. If everything becomes easy to get, then the excitement and the purpose of playing disappears. PoE 2? "It’s not just PoE 1 with better graphics." Yeah my net value probably halved if not more but it's fine, my mates who play much less can now enjoy the game more.
Sucks if we were rich but it's far more healthy overall for the general playerbase. Guess I chance a temp. |

It sucks right now and I was saving over 40 white stellar bases to sell in a few weeks. Now they are worth nothing.
In the long run, it's better for the game and casual players. |

" Yeah, I totally agree, this might make the game more appealing for casuals. You know, the kind of players who play for a week, try out a few builds, then quit and move on. But for long-term, grind-heavy players like me, who enjoy the chase and the satisfaction of earning something rare over time, this kind of change just kills the motivation. When everything becomes easy and common, what’s left for the people who stick around and actually grind? PoE 2? "It’s not just PoE 1 with better graphics."

Le lolz.
Woe is you, few hundred divines clearly not good enough for chase item so you come here banging the hyperbole drum trying to generate sympathy. More available items are, the better.. creating aritificial gates helps no one other than the trade junkies botting their items for cheap to sell at a mark up later. |

" Yeah man, I play the game, grind my butt off, earn something valuable, and hope it goes up over time, what's so wrong with that? Not everyone bots or flips junk all day. You ever tried farming 700 divs legit? It's not exactly a walk in the park. But hey, let’s just make every item rain from the sky so nobody has to work for anything, right? Who cares if months of effort turn into vendor trash in one patch? PoE 2? "It’s not just PoE 1 with better graphics."

Let me preface this by saying I fully am on your side and agree with the fact that extremely rare chase items are essential to the game. You say that your rite of passage charm is worthless but as I type this, there's currently only two of them on the market.
I do think you're overreacting a bit with regard to how common they made the chase items. Maybe time will tell a different story. |
