PoE2 fans...

It'll takes years to get PoE 2 to the absurd level that PoE 1 has gotten to. They aren't the same game yet but it's possible they will just further cave and go all in later on.
Remember the old days of POE1 when bosses were challenging, and required understanding their mechanics instead of blowing them up in under 10 seconds?
The people and especially no-life loser streamers who championed the zoom zoom boom boom playstyle that made POE1 dull and boring, are the same who wish to derail POE2 into that exact same dull and boring style.

You know why the game started out with over half a million players? Because of the promised slower and methodical combat, compared to brainless zoom and boom.
But hey don't let that stop you from gloating. Afterall you don't want any "tourists" here anyway right?

It's always funny when people use imaginary metrics to back up their hallucinations.

If you don't enjoy the game perhaps you would enjoy the slow methodical gameplay in grim dawn?
I hear it's getting pretty damn popular these days, like 35 people play it and the company almost has a %10 chance of getting off of life support.

Just curious what part of that post has imaginary metrics? Just on Steam the peak concurrent player number was over 1.2 Million.. Steam wasn't the only place to get EA. So I'm guessing you're not talking about the 500,000+ part of it.

Did you mean the reason the poster gave for why they played? I mean I'd agree that we don't know why precisely without asking all of them. I never played POE 1 so that wasn't my reason as an example.

what does that even mean, it's already 95% PoE1? if the graphics get worse you'll quit? if they give players the agency they have in PoE1 you'll quit? if you don't have to complete every atlas node in perpetuity you'll quit?

the combat turns to slop in the endgame and Jonathan recently said he's fine with that?

It is far closer to PoE1 than 0.1, yes. I played far less of 2.x than I did 1.x.

It really does seem impossible for PoE1 Blaster Boi BIGGANUMBA jaggoffs to understand that we don't want that shit and we never did. Not in PoE1 where it became game-warpingly absurd, not in PoE2 where Jon Rogers promised us something better and then has been consistently taking it away because of people like YOU.

I don't know if I'll stick with the game at all at this point. This could've been the coolest ARPG on the market. Instead, it's rapidly devolving into yet another pointless boring chase-the-numbers blastfest pile of swill.

Such a fierce disappointment.

I suppose when the two studio leads have brought 1 game to release and worked on it exclusively for 12 years, revolutionary ideas are hard to come by.

I had 250 hours in 0.1 and 3 hours 0.2 and don't expect I'll play 0.3 (but reserve the right to if I get bored with everything else).

There's so much I don't like in 2 I doubt things will change to my liking but it's not the lack of power or zoomy game play. Dodge roll for instance. It's so bad compared to the simple yet extremely effective dodge mechanic just released in Titan Quest 2 (which is but a bare whisper of a game, in EA, but already clearly well done), not to mention the abominable ascendancy trials, dumb ass endgame, etc.

I know you were so looking forward to 2 and I feel for ya because the devolution is happening fast.
The updated patch notes from yesterday still give some hope, but the game has become a step closer to PoE1 mess anyway, which I also don't like.
PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fan-made fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players.

PoE Deuce had all those initial player numbers not because of how different it was going to be from PoE (most of the transient playerbase had never even played PoE), but because GGG/Tencent invested in promotion on a level poor, ol' PoE had never had. Flash hit pan, money poured in, players found other "hot new games" to play, and here we are. ='[.]'=

And the promo hype train continues from the look of the patch notes.

It's a ten cent world now
If the game turns into zoom zoom 1 shot entire screens and bosses die in <10 seconds or just oneshot you constantly, I would quit.

The game already feels like two very different halves. Campaign feels slower, methodical and really enjoyable for me. Maps it's more zoomy, mobs run at you very quickly generally and it favours the one shot builds as a result imo due to their squishiness. Not something I really enjoy.

I do think a lot of poe1 players are just trying to turn 2 into a modern clone of 1. If they succeed I will go back to playing other games.

Here's hoping GGG don't cave on the vision. The changes they've made already went back on some of their goals, such as not needing loot filter. I can't say I find a loot explosion of garbage exciting.

I like the changes trying to push combo gameplay to be viable, I don't mind people wanting to 1 button spam but I don't think that gameplay should EVER be optimal over combos.

Agreed. They needed to have a spine and tell the streamers and mass complainers to stick to POE1 like they originally were going to.
Instead we're going to have two versions of POE1, on top of D3, D4, and LE which are also essentially POE1.

This genre is forever stuck in this awful state and NEVER going to progress. It's literally stuck in purgatory forever.

What's funny is, Vampire Survivors is a much better game for this type of zoom zoom blow up screen 0-1 button game play all these POE1 players want, and they should be playing that instead of continuing to ruin this genre.

Even the creator of this genre hates what happened to it and doesn't want to play it! That says a lot.
