Bots and Botting

As far as i know most people are still reversing the game.
I've seen a few prototypes but thats it.
I think in a few weeks we will see working bots.

The more important question is... is botting something that even needs to be stopped? Now, I don't intend to bot, because I'm having a lot of fun with the game... but part of me realizes how awesome it would be to come home from work every day and have several chaos orbs in my stash that weren't there before.

In some ways, we create our own awesome gear in Path of Exile.. unlike a market driven game like Diablo 3 or Diablo 2.. who does botting really hurt here? I mean, we have the bartering system.. the currency items are functional, they actually DO stuff... which means they'll never lose that inherent value.

I think Path of Exile creates a unique environment in which botting cannot hurt an economy. And how does it really hurt anyone else if some guy decides to perfect his character through automation? If anything it's only hurting him, by taking away the awesome gameplay experience he'd be missing out on.

Yeah people love to hate on kripp for some reason. They put in so much effort into tearing him down, and will go as far as lying or twisting his words, like in this case, just to make themselves feel superior to him lol.
Can somebody explain this to me xD
Saw this today. BlatantBot labeled from A - E.

Fuckin lol.

Might be someone multiboxing, and decided to have fun with the names.

There are some factors in PoE that will make botting harder than in D2 or D3.

One is the randomness of the areas. D2 had these too, but bots there had a maphack which is impossible in PoE as far as I know (I think I can dimly remember an old dev post regarding this, but I could be wrong).

Then of course the new end-game maps system adds to this randomness, where pretty much not a single aspect of an area is a constant (monster types, layout, required resistances, all random). Also, a bot can't trade for maps that fit the botting-character well.

That being said, I don't doubt that there will be bots. After all, they could just run pretty straight forward areas or white (non-magic) maps. Let's hope that the systems in place, and hopefully additional ones being added in the future, will keep bots from becoming a plague.

I am going to stop you right there.

There are already bots (and Maphack as well) for PoE.

It will only be a matter of time before they infest the game.

It will be very difficult to detect them as well.
Changing the chaos orb recipe made it better. We might need more of these kind of changes that hit the botting hard enough to not make it worth it.

The low level merv/whatever rare farming and turning them in for chaoses already had a major influence in the currency flow and the prices were getting higher and higher in little amount of time.
