This is where the FUN was, dear GGG

Hi there! I honestly don't expect anyone from GGG to read this as there is a PLETHORA of posts already about disappointment around 3.27. (This is what actually "plethora" means, not 10 scarabs being still whatever)
Now, I joined PoE community in ToTA league and had soooo much fun up until Settlers that right now I have absolutely no idea what GGG's current vision about the loot (and fun) in this game is. Let me show you some images the last time we had a LOT of fun.

![]() These two images say it all. A lot of you would probably say "yeah, and the economy is fucked up in 1 day". So what? Is it better now? Do you enjoy running your maps? Maybe some of you, but the majority, not. I don't want to put just a lot of criticism in here. With this post I'd like to kindly ask Mark and Johnathan to put some light on the current situation. Why the loot is so bad right now (kinda in both games), why it had to be smashed so hard, why the fun had to be taken away so drastically. Yeah I know these guys don't have better things to do than to answer a random guy on forums, but I believe the whole community would like to know their view :) I still love the game, I would still play it, but it's not fun anymore which makes you quit after a couple of days or even less. GGG, you CAN do better, you did for all these years. Last bumped on Nov 13, 2025, 9:10:04 AM

I just don't understand all the fuss about loot.
The point of an ARPG isn't to get tons of loot. That's why I don't play Diablo 4 anymore, for example. Because I can't stand being bombarded with Legendaries and there's no sense of achievement anymore. I can still remember Diablo 1 from 1996, where you could find an Arcane Valor in the campaign. I've been playing PoE since September 2012, and PoE has never been in better shape than it is today. The real goal of an ARPG, besides having fun and developing your character, is to discover and master the game content. That's working perfectly at the moment, isn't it? Where are the reports saying: “We can't defeat Boss XY because we can't get any good equipment.” ? Thanks to the Breach tree, it's even easier to get very good equipment in SSF. That's what the whole game is about. Not how much currency is lying on the ground. |

I don't really care about tons of loot, it's just that the "dopamine" type of loot is missing and character progression is pointless at the moment. None of the farming strategies is challenging. Day 1 and you could have your 6-link, even some good uniques from the tree and that's it. But in the maps, you literally don't find the dopamine, so what's the point in running it?
You grind your way to high end gear, but you could do same content with mid gear with no problem. And even if the content was more challenging, it would not be equally rewarding at the moment. These scarab/currency bombs I posted gave you a lot of feeling of being rewarded. Maybe it's too much loot, I agree, but now there is like almost zero. |

Just look at pretty lights if you miss them so much? Or are you implying that all of us only care about those lights? Cause I certainly don't

The loot, namely rare currency, namely divines and such, are used to develop the characters. So it is exactly the point of the game, even by your own rationale.
The tree gave out mid tier equipment for free to everyone. Now everyone wants to push further. To push further divines are necessary. But tree does not shit out divines at nearly same rate as it shit out everything else. People are feeling a sharp deficit of it simply because they, thanks to the damn tree, all, at the same time, hit a point in progression where they dont need anything else and must thus compete for the bottleneck resource. And all that even before we start an argument about whether or not the raw currency accessibility is nerfed this league. POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1. |

" Economy wasn't fucked up. It's some misconception about Affliction like everyone was only abusing abyss start. You could make so much money selling other shit outside this because there was very low supply of things outside the abyss. Fractures had value, you had cheap scarabs, you could run some under performed shit with no issues. Best league. On Probation Any%

" They specifically added Ruthless and we have SSF and Hardcore and then, we also have POE2. So everything you mentioned is perfectly fine but we have aforementioned mediums for that. POE1 is just loot simulator where you mindlessly blast maps and chase loot explosions and tinks. That is all. |
|
" The beauty of inflation in POE is that even though items cost more (mostly crafted ones), you also find more currency and get a better sense of progression than whatever is right now. |

Those pictures perfectly represent literally everything bad about modern ARPGs, and I don't know how you can unironically say this was when the game was good.
Dopamine drops are when you get GOOD EQUIPMENT that you actually want to use, not a giant pile of shiny garbage you have to click 200 times just to see your screen again. |
