Caustic Mana flask must be fixed
|
Caustic has a place in the game.
I think the biggest issue ppl have been having is: their inability to READ!!! Caustic...CI...Ancestral Bond etc... If players would learn to READ... GGG and everyone one else would have fewer problems Edit: grammar Last edited by Josephoenix#2379 on Mar 14, 2013, 11:53:38 PM

Please don't change the mechanic, it's clearly written on the tooltip what it does. If anything add a warning to the tooltip for the Chaos Inoculation passive on the passive skill tree.
The number of things I read in the in-game chat about things that are explained in the game already is just mind boggling. There is nothing you can do to make someone read, that shouldn't mean you should make everything foolproof though. The game shouldn't be catering the illiterate. " There, Rory, fixed it for you. Its not considered a bug. As for the QQers: ![]() POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

I just think they could warn us a little bit clearer. I tought the flask would work like the lifesteal issue. If u have CI the monsters can't leech your life, therefore killing you. Just lost my lvl 59 Shadow at Hardcore because I used a Caustic flask and I tough it would follow the lifesteal line of thinking. Really tought my CI would protect me from a direct life hit as the definition of CI, if I'm not mistaken goes something like: "Energy shield acts as an additional hit point pool on top of life. If you have any energy shield remaining when you take damage, the damage is subtracted from the energy shield first. Damage is only applied to life once all energy shield is depleted. The exception to this is chaos damage, which ignores energy shield."
It was my fault, I won't deny that, I misunderstood the flask effect and the mechanics of the game. But I lost a character that took me long time to build and I was satisfied with what I achieved. To lose him, not for a boss, not for any monster, but for a flask is just way too frustrating. I really tought my ES would act as a extension of my life and take the direct hit first... but it didn't happened that way. |

anyways.. its senceless that players can suicide in any way.
ci classes using the wrong flask or activating an aura on a bloodmagic map or people dying from bloodrage cause the effect wont stop at 1 hp i mean rightious fire wont kill u eighter.. why is suicide even possible if u lose exp or lose your whole hc charactar? if u use causic flask with ci class there should come a red warning headline "this is not possible" or whats the sence that suiciding is possible? i dont get it.. its an action rpg.. really need to read every shit to make sure that the charactar cant die from the effect? think about it and maybe make the game more playable for people who just wanna slaughter some monsters and not wanna philosophise over every single flask effect or whatever | |

Caustic can kill you because... this game is supposed to give you choices and your choices need to feel meaningful. If the game stopped you from making dumb choices, where would be the flexibility and realism? Also, in terms of role-playing... you're an exile. Wraeclast is a tough and inhospitable land.
I don't know about the Aura in a blood magic map to be honest. I don't know if it would work.. I've never tried. I know with standard blood magic auras (not CI) you can only kill yourself if the cast of the aura reserves exactly 100%. It won't allow you to cast if you don't have the health or mana to support the cast. If it uses 99% it won't kill you. If it uses 101%, it won't allow the cast. Only in the cases of 100% even does it allow you to kill yourself. It's not a bug, and I don't think it should be changed. |

Welcome to old school game mechanics. You may call them bad, but for the target audience of this game they add spice and feeling to the game. Just deal with it and read up on game mechanics better.

has absolutly nothing to do with making choises. who chose to kill itself by using a mana flask? it only happens accidental. and where is the excuse that you only die when the auras take exactly 100%? btw. with ci u die from every % aura
not every player wanna read all the game mechanics just to make sure that there is not the wrong mana flask which can kill him. more over there are players from all around the world who wont understand every word written in english and who just wanna play and kill some mobs u wanna say that everyone who doesnt read every single mod on every flask and every item correctly should die or rip his hc char by activating an aura or use a flask? only because he didnt read the game mechanics? it wont add spice.. it slows the game down and people get frustrated Last edited by tqp#4236 on May 30, 2013, 1:06:48 PM

" I'm pretty sure I prefaced my statement with "I don't know about the Aura in a blood magic map to be honest." So with a CI and Blood Magic, I just don't know the answer. As for the choice to kill yourself, of course you're not going to choose it... but it makes you pay attention to stuff... and it gives users choices for things. You can't have the positive without the negative. A Caustic Flask TAKES from health and GIVES to mana. You can't have the "GIVE to mana" portion without the "TAKE from health" portion. And the real world doesn't always have "warning: this will kill you, so I'm not letting you do it". It is up to the user to understand the mechanics and if you choose to play a low-health character, that is something you really need to pay attention to. Anything that involves removing health WILL kill you on a CI character. It's a play-style choice. No one is forcing you to be a CI character, and no one is forcing you to use caustic flasks. Trust me.. I know people don't read. It happens all the time. We constantly get questions about "Why can't I do any damage?!" only to find out the user took Ancestral Bond and didn't READ the keystone. Not my problem, not GGG's problem. It's the user's problem. This game isn't supposed to be easy. This isn't "carebears". It's Path of Exile. |
