Creating PROGRAMS for PoE, What do people want?
" I mentioned those types of programs, botting, or any other cheating program will not be made. Will the program created give the player an unfair advantage? No. Free and open source to everyone. The idea is to create a program to help players become better at the game. Best example I can think of is curse.com -> Wow add-ons. Or maybe the jungle mob tracker for LOL. Simple things to not break the game, but provide some insight and understanding. |

" by letting 1 "software"/program" being added to a game will just result to even more programs, who might end be a bot program and so on, i do Believe this is not something you should add in this game, just Watch World of warcraft, all those addons actually destroyed the fun in the game. I do Believe addons should not be added by a player, it in that case should be added by the GGG staff, so i do Believe you should leave it :S i dont like seeing players making addons, next day you see the forum overcrowded with "i got IP locked, I Got Hacked" and so on. I would like a program which counts how many of each item drop for me, and combines that with information on how much time was spent out-of-town to get an overall drop rates for specific item types. Bonus if it could then divide that number by my current IIQ/IIR to determine what the natural drop rate would be if I wasn't wearing MF gear.
Since that all seems to be data-only, I don't see how that would be cheating. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. Here's some useful things that don't actually put any inputs into the game itself:
- A program that accumulates craft data would be really splendid, especially if it can calculate the odds of a specific mod being rolled after seeing x number of crafts. Having it work with socketing/fusing would also be nice. - A stashfinder program that just accesses your inventory/stash and lets you dig through it would be very welcome - Procurement already does something like this, but Procurement takes a long time to boot and takes up memory for features I don't particularly care about, like the art of every item in every stash tab. - A loot-counter program would be truly excellent, even if all it did was count the amount of loot that shows up on the ground (and inherent map/player MF mods, of course) and put it into a database that you can use other programs to fiddle with. I don't know how you could keep it from double-counting loot, though. As far as I know, all 3 of those would probably be legal by GGG standards as long as they don't actually input anything. |

To the OP,
There has been some mention of a stat collator for the passive tree. There's actually an app for iPhone that does this already. It hasn't been updates for many months now but it somehow still has the updated tree, albeit no option to choose to start as a scion. If it weren't for the fact that its on my phone and it can be tough hitting those small nodes with my fingers is use it primarily. Seeing all the combined totals of crit chance or damage increase is really helpful. Not sure if its a good thing to check out so you can adopt it into browser format but the best I can give you for contacting the creator(s) is their twitter @POESkilltreeapp. |

" I would fear that it would be heavily used for wrong conclusions, although I would happily use it myself. :) To OP: If you are not sure where your borders are, ask support@grindinggear.com. I think they can clear up if your program would violate their ToU or not. :) Last edited by Nightmare90#4217 on Oct 28, 2013, 4:16:19 PM

If it doesn't interact with the game in any way it should be fine, if you are talking about mods like WoW/WoT then you'll get your ass banned and the people that use them banned...so please don't

Few things I would like to see added to the game... not sure if some of these would even be allowed though so feel free to ignore most of them, more of a wish list. I realize they may be ambitious, but they are things I would love to see in-game.
1. Improved Map - Show mobs/allies on map using red/green blobs or triangles so it is easier to play with the large map overlay. I tend to always play with the big map on and I sometimes find it hard to notice mobs if I am overly focused on the map, especially in big groups. I am thinking of the d2 maphack (not for the revealing map function though) where it would show mobs/allies/treasure on the map and even projectiles. 2. Gear comparison - Something that shows you the effects of equipping a new piece of gear. I am thinking of WoW where it would show you the change in your stats if you were to equip a piece of gear you have highlighted (like pressing Alt and seeing your stats in red/green for which ones will improve and which ones will be lowered). I guess this is related to the DPS calculator, but for all stats (no easy task I am sure). 3. A sort function when looking for a group - I find the current group finder to be a little sloppy. Being able to put in criteria for a filter or being able to sort the list by certain criteria would make looking for a new group much simpler/faster. Perhaps adding a lvl filter/sort or Act# or even filtering by looking for something specific in the title of the group. I sometimes find is annoying when I think I have found a good group but they are all 20 levels higher and I didn't notice before hitting join (lazy on my part I realize). 4. Potion Assist - Not sure if this is considered cheating or not, probably is - Adding a function to automatically use a potion when certain criteria are met. Such as automatically using potion #1 when your health is below 50% or mana below 50%, etc. This would take your focus away from potion use and allow you to focus on skills to use against mobs (again, I think this might be considered cheating though since watching your health/mana are part of the game). 5. Additional stats - I am a total newb to the game so maybe I just haven't noticed this yet, but I would love to see additional stats that state things like current walk/run speed in relation to normal speed expressed as a %, current magic find change (%), health regen per second, mana regen per second, regen delays, etc. Again, I have only played for about a day and so far I love the game, not sure if there is somewhere to find these stats already or not, but if they do not exist in-game, they should. Anywho, that's my list for now. Let the trolling begin! |
