Almost NO ONE build around it! Almost everyone was using it the same way without having to alter their planned build (Enduring Cry, Molten Shelle + some totem)
And I said it twice already: You can be mad for GGG releasing the gem the way it was in the first place but HATING, BASHING, BEING RUDE and despising the WHOLE game now is just weird and stupid!
Then let me rephrase.

Also i don´t see much hating, bashing, rude. Don´t know why you have this impression. Acutally it wonders me that this thread is still this "okay".
In a mature world decisions will always bear critic. Critic is always wanted and needed to get better. Live with that and don´t try to make the world look like a hippi unicorn land.
The change from purity + cotd is now hurting many people. That is a fact in the first instance. How big that will be can only be seen when people will play with the new changes.
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?

Overall I think its a nice patch, but the purity issues will be seen in time.
I don't often use purity, but always have it leveled in case... really don't wanna carry 3 more gems that ill need to keep leveled.

A fair number of people are misunderstanding the change to Cast when Damage Taken. A level 1 CwDT gem can support higher than level 1 versions of other gems. It's the level requirement that is checked, not the actual level.
We've tested many, many builds with this change and most characters still gain a lot of benefit from the skill. We'll keep an eye on how it performs after the patch hits and will adjust balance further (the damage thresholds, potentially) based on data.
Please fucking enlighten me, what builds would benefit from this?

Pretty much every build ever made. CoDT is still insanely strong.

All skill gems are insanely strong, if that's going to be your argument.

The Problem why everyone thinks, CoDT is useless now is because they arent able to read ...
you dont need a level 18 CoDT for a level 18 Molten Shell ... you have to compare the LEVEL REQUIREMENT of the gems - not the gem level

How do you know that, are you an alpha tester or merely speaking about the present time before this patch hits in couple of hours?

I see a lot of complaining and over a free game. Appreciate what you have people. They could have charged you for this. Look at D3, It's a joke compared to this game and they charged you (and me =[ ) $40, and the expansion isn't going to be free either.
Things are changing all the time, and if you can't understand that, maybe this game (or any MMO for that matter) isn't for you. I find it quite fun to theorycraft after a huge overhaul.
To GGG, you are all doing a great job. I've played this game since early beta, and even though I thought it was a fun game then, you have all done so much to improve it. Keep up the good work.
First, I already spent more than that on PoE.
Second, this isn't an MMO, but even if it were, in no MMO do you have to burn tons of currency only to get your characters destroyed regularly - and by the looks of it this is going to be the norm in PoE.
TBH, I don't see myself spending on cosmetic effects and such if I don't have the confidence that my characters have any sort of longer-term future. I don't have the time to roll a new build every 2 weeks, nor do I want to.
and thats why there are other games for you. stop crying and dont play the game or roll with it. your choice.

Here is an idea, don't play the flavor of the week OP build and it will have a long-term future. My fire witch build (based on fireball crits) works great and has since closed beta.

Man, this was a refreshing read.
I have to say I play solo pretty much 100% of the time and I trade very, very rarely. I have been having an absolute blast playing lately, using both Cast when Stunned and Cast on Damage Taken. The change to CoDT will pretty much have 0 effect on my gameplay. I also want to just say I really approve of the changes to auras, the 60% per for most of them was a good thing. I currently run 2, and with the reduction to vitality's reserve I may go for that.
Anyway, main point is, I play solo, I love it, been having more fun than ever. QQers go away.
Your highest character is level 60. No offence, but they could change literally anything in the game and it wouldn't affect you very much. The people with legitimate complaints about drastic changes to the game are people who have planned a build, then levelled to 90+, only to have skills they were using altered and hundreds and hundreds of hours potentially wasted. Imagine you planned to use 6 auras, because they were available in the game, you level to 90, then suddenly you can only use 2 of them. That's not a good situation to be put in. The CoDT change isn't that bad, but it's just another example of GGG having no regard to the expectations that people have for the longevity of their characters.
I'm not telling you you're worthless because you don't have super high level characters, I'm just pointing out that complaints people make about patches can be legitimate, and aren't necessarily people just whining because they're immature.
You know it's funny, I debated whether or not I should address that in my post, but I figured I'd see how long for this post to show up. Not long at all.
Simply put, level 60 is my highest EXISTING character. I don't even really play that one anymore. I like starting over and trying new stuff and the rate of my ability to play due to numerous other factors means that I tend to start over more than play deep into the game at this time.
It doesn't mean I haven't done it before and have no endgame experience, because believe me, I do.
Auras were NEVER intended to be used 6 at a time, and anyone that's been here long enough knows that. GGG finally getting around to making that a reality should surprise exactly 0 people that pay attention.
A skill that just got added, say CoDT, being adjusted should surprise 0 people that have any clue how these things go. The GGG team and their alpha testers simply cannot put the effort into trying to mess with things the same way all the players in the game can. Things come out after implementation that are unexpected because of this reality. Not being aware of this reality and not accepting it is just dumb on the part of the populace.
Does it suck to have something changed on you? Sure. Does that mean GGG is incompetent or not trying to do the absolute best they can and take care of their player base in the aggregate? Of course not. How people react to those changes is up to them. Feedback is excellent, if done right. We've seen GGG adjust decisions based on feedback, and that's one of the reasons I support them.
Personally, I react by knowing that for a long time now (July 2012 or something), I've had a great deal of fun with my characters, past and present, still viable and no longer viable. I appreciate that fun and am determined to continue to do so. Was the time I spent building up a character that is no longer viable due to game changes wasted? No! You know why? I HAD FUN! That's all anyone should ever ask of a video game.
I'm on the admin side of things in the game world elsewhere, and I've had to make exactly the types of calls GGG has made knowing that some existing players will be on the short end of the stick. It sucks to have to do it, but sometimes you have to do it.
