1.0.1 Patch Notes
Honestly the nerf was hard, we all knew it was coming (if you didn't think that infinite Discharge madness was broken, or didn't see that Chris had said in multiple places nerfs were coming you're a fool.).
What I wasn't expecting was the nerf to swing so hard at Defensive users of it. Molten Shell/Enduring Cry with it are basically unusable now and require super low level versions of those gems (which are basically worthless in endgame maps.) I'd just like GGG to re-evaluate the gem and find it a good place. I don't like % chance to proc (defeats the purpose, I need it more for bosses slamming me hard and spike damage than for mob swarming), I'm moreso on the train of thought that they should just evaluate the numbers, super-nerf the damage, and adjust it appropriately. |

Going to throw in my 2 cents:
I recently got back into the game from watching a fav'd streamer of mine (Brandon from twitch) with a CODT discharge spectral build. this build got me back into the game after a hiatus (sadly) by just by all the flashing colors from discharge (dont judge... im easily amsued even in my 30's with a kid). while i never was going to get a perfect rolled volls to make his build work i was willing to try it out to even 50% capacity. im never going to be able to do 71+ maps solo nor will I likely ever see a nice 6L chest piece since i dont have the time to farm. these nerfs remind me D3's nonsense. the second a build becomes viable.. NERFBAT. I admit, due to life i dont have the time to play 3-4 hours a day like many others but i at least stood a chance of making a somewhat fun build. not only that, i prefer to play alone since i rarely have time to get a group going. its highly discouraging that this gem that showed promise is now serverely nerfed to the ground along with purity. yes, its a grinding game but the effort/payout ratio is much better than diablo's contrived BS. that being said, i agree with both sides. no gem should remain at level 1 as it is game mechanic abuse but at the same time.. its not even usable anymore. all i ask is at least consider some of the options that have been posted here with tweaked this ability along with purity nerf. |

" The 5% make no difference at all for a well geared group. All I see is solo play getting disadvantages with every other patch while groups get babysat more and more. Next week I bet you'll nerf Grace but in return make it stack if multiple people run it. You might think you are balancing the game , but in reality you are restricting players without insane gear to certain builds, and then nerf those builds with yet another patch. If this keeps up you will reach a point where "fun" and "solo play" are mutually exclusive. IGN: JustDieAlreadyWillYa

" No offense, that build wasn't just viable, it was overpowered. While I applaud the first people to build it and come up with it, the late-comers who were just running it for the ez-mode aspect I have no pity for. You'd just run in circles while the game kills everything for you. All it was was an "assemble the pieces, sit and watch the fireworks" build that required zero actual gameplay. The game should never play itself, and the second we all saw that build we knew something was going to change about it. But yes, I agree, it needs to be looked over and adjusted accordingly. Leaving it in the current state it is basically unusable. |

" BOOYA. EDIT: People are saying the Purity reduction in power wasn't justified. It was. We haven't seen the power of the individual elemental aura buffs, but I figure their maximum resistances bonuses will be comparable if not higher. Whoever remembers Salvation and protection from fire / lightning / cold. They do the exact same thing as this game. I love the fact that PoE is a very live, dynamic game in the way it keeps new and fresh by the many updates/balances.
BUT its also a game that needs careful planning, and that PUNISHES you for bad choices. That said, i think it becomes pretty clear that for such equation to work, we need solid bases for us to make such decisions. The recent constant balances to Cast on Damage Taken are the complete opposite of a solid base. I´m not getting into the merit of the nerf, but I do say that if you are so unsure about how a gem works, GGG, dont release it, otherwise you are just wasting players time and burning your own good karma among our ranks. |

Terrible purity change, rest of patch notes are nothing interesting or helpful. Definitely time to quit!
