If you oneshot yourself on single reflect you doing too much DPS, thats it and thats why we have reflect and thats why they nerf VP. Easy.
By the way: All other nerfs of max resist had the same effect: less max ress, more DMG reflected. Pretty obvious that they dont want 100k DPS builds running arround, unkillable, and faceroll their content.
But I'm not a 100k dps glass cannon, I'm a 15k dps tank. With current leech I only get 1shot if its a huge mob on a -max, usually I'm smart enough to play around the reflect. But leech 2.0 means I'm taking tons of incoming damage with minimal incoming life. This has the potential to turn 30k dps into glass cannon, or it will bring about the death of AoE.
Which is probably the intent here.
Perfectly stated. The update invalidates AoE in so many situations.
My concern is whether we can test the new changes somehow before commiting the points. I run discharge ES GR VAAL PACT. I dont want to commit 100 points only to find out my build char is completely inept now.

The only times i killed myself with IB due to reflections it was the explosion damage that did it. With IB the actual dps doesnt matter much when it comes to reflection. The gigantic pack of monsters exploding in a split second is the problem. When i get a map with ele reflect i just switch to ground slam. Problem though is even without the map mod some rare monsters gives a reflect aura and now that is hard to avoid without carefully watching the mods of every rare mobs (which really isnt my thing :D).
Wait, then if you need vaal pact to avoid aoe reflection, I think you will still survive after the nerf.
Let's asume you do 1k damage to 20 monsters.
18% reflected, out of 1000 damage would be 180, which would be further decreased by your fire resistance which I will asume sits at 75%. 180*0.25= 45.
If you previously had... let's say 8.8% life leech from the gem, after the nerf you would have 8.8*0.4 = 3.52%
So, you would be recovering 3.52% of 1000, so 35.2 hp.
Total damage you would take if you were to make 20 enemies explode would be of 10x20, so 200 damage.
I doubt that would kill you.
And if the hit would be of 10000 each, we'll be talking of 200 x 10. So you would be hurting yourself for 2000 damage which is pretty scary but playing CI wouldnt be so worrying.
Dual reflect would be a different story, same with - max, but you already said that prefer swapping to ground slam for ele reflect maps.

You can never test the changes so it's really dumb in the end becouse you never know if the new build will work of if you have to get a ton of regrets, but your build is probably useless becouse Vaal nerf
LOL VP got a BUFF not a damn nerf...
true 60% reduction to leech is abit much but to be able to run VP effectively on life builds is great.
im excited about the change and have already planned a life based build with the new vaal pact... obviously i will have to plan again once the new tree is up but i will definitely be making life based with VP.
and ES is being buffed... both life and ES get a buff of some kind...
im sure the developers never meant for VP to only be viable for ES...
and now its effective for both.
btw to all those little children that keep spamming ahh man im going to quit if you dont do this and this or if this happens...
bye bye... thing is its going to be more like.. hey man.. cause im damn sure i will see you in game 3 months from now..
fucking empty words.
So whoever disagres with new patch changes and find that is not everything perfect, they should not post it cause the sky is blue, the grass is green and GGG is the best gaming experience ever gonna be.
Yes probably we wont quit but we can express our opinion when we find something wrong and we have to rebuild all our pssive skills, gear and dont know what else. That means starting the game from scratch and we probably have to do it over and over every 4 months.
Ye i know we are all children cause we dont like to kiss asses when we dont like something that is obviously basic to our playing game style

Invasion - Retired due to 20+ Rips
Hardcore - ZackyP (Reaver Max Blocker/67%Spell block)
ZackyPArcer (Arcer max spell block in the works)
ZackyPP (buzzsaw overall cheap build)
ZackyPee (DD in the works)
Could you explain how VP got buffed. Why is it more viable for life builds?
Lets say I don't have VP and I hit ten monsters with an AoE. I will leech my 10% or w/e from the highest hit. If I have VP, I will get only 4% of the leech, but I will get it from every monster.
When all of those monsters are hitting you back with 15% reflect, suddenly Vaal Pact looks really awesome.
Ah. So Vaal Pact has been nerfed, but juxtaposed with the normal Leech nerf, it becomes desirable when dealing with 3 or 4+ monsters.
Still, kind of hilarious. 4% leech vs 15% reflect.

So why did i bought? So i can do a survilabity spec...Yea right.
I bet we gonna have a hotfix for VP very soon after the new patch to balance again the game.
And dont start with how many have that kind of weapons or gear cause GGG game supposed that is a hardcore game and not casual friendly.
That axe is a perfect example for why I don't play Standard and why Eternal orbs and Mirrors should be removed from the game. In my eyes that axe is not even legit. It's a dupe that should be deleted from the server. There should be one and only one owner. Period.
