Eternal Orbs
Well, crafting is dead. But hey, at least I have a few bargaining chips if I ever decide to heavily invest into standard.
Exalts are far too rare to waste on a yolo exalt and eternals were far too rare to be used to save a 5-link item when trying for 6 link. The combination is obvious and hardly "unintended". The next thing you need to do is significantly boost the drop rates on exalts and lower the stupidly low rarity of the current t1 affixes. 3000 alts trying to roll tyrannical is just not cool, especially because that's 3000 dropped items if you try to find one naturally (not exactly due to rares having more than 1 prefix). Crafting right now is simply not worth it, and removing eternals which allow people to perfect items over time is only making it worse. |

Damn it, i never had one dropped :(

" I can stand by this mentality only because Chris stated that he is unsure if eternals will return. Wouldn't be the first time a league went without specific drops i.e. Kaom's Heart. " While this may be the only way to truly remove eternals, the question bubbles up out of me, why? With legacy being a standing policy within game I stand by my argument that it unfairly targets the rich. What would removing eternals do in a permanent league? The upper 1% will remain the upper 1% and even if they didn't craft the next t1 gear, they'd still have the best items in game for a long time to come. Mirrors still exist and so far there is no threat to them, so you're still fighting a losing battle. The only reason that justifies the removal of eternal drops is exactly what I said earlier, that GGG doesn't want people to get perfect gear. It'll happen anyway, maybe even a little bit slower. But it will happen. Mark my words. " Only the rich would be hurt by such a change because only the upper 1% can possibly use eternals for top tier crafting. This is the abuse that is cited by many, and the average Joe probably doesn't care too much about losing one eternal, unless maybe he has an image or two lying around. The impact of removing eternals entirely is lopsided because of trading. If the currency was better distributed I wouldn't say that it targets the rich. But the currency will not be better distributed anytime soon because the drop rate is too low, therefore it is more valuable as a commodity, which means it'll mostly be the rich using it for crafting. And what is the point of GGG removing their drop? Good question. Maybe they don't want the situation to get worse. Phasing out eternals will make it significantly harder in the long run to continue crafting 6T1 items. With the expected rarity of the new top level tiers on weapons as well, maybe they're hoping to drain the economy of them before reintroducing them. That could be only a benefit to the extremely rich right now, but a benefit to the entire player base when/if they return. Maybe this is only a trial run to see how the players react to it. |

Playing since release. Nether saw Eternal drop. Nothing changes for me, I guess! :D

Best economy change ever. Its a shame it already "ruined" the permanent leagues economy. Keep up the awesome work!
Edit: changing the max ilvl (79-82) an eternal can be used on could prevent the crafting of perfect gear with the new mods right away in the permanent leagues (standard mostly) and at the same time it wouldn't take away their current utility except race reward items (ilvl 100). I might be beating a dead horse here, but I think the real problem is the value gap between exalts and mirrors just got bigger. Everyone seems to forget that the main intended purpose of currency items is to modify/craft gear, why not get rid of mirrors and make crafting available? No flood of mirrorables like when eternals were introduced/duped and the whole player base get's to enjoy every aspect of the game. Calm down, there will still be "rich" people in game. Imagine crafting a 6t1 item without the existance of mirrors, you now have an item that's easily 5 times more valuable because it's "unique".

To me it seems the only thing this does is making all the whiners with their 6x t1 crafts happy. Nobody will be able to craft gear better then the gear they have, even if better gear is theoretically possible. Without eternal orbs, that gear will never surpass current top items. Seems abit like a lazy change.

Pls remove mirrors! They did their great job (as well as eternals) so that now we see standard all ripped.

Ok so what is the long term plan now? You dont want us to get lvl 100 you dont want us to craft. You dont like us playing maps so you nerf map drops to the ground. WHAT is it you do want?
want us to play to lvl 50 and start over? IMO you should give an better explanation of what you do want what are you aiming at? First things you should explains is what happens to people who choose a card that gives Eternal orbs? Second thing you should explain (right away with a change like this) is what are you going to change to make crafting such a pain in the ass without eternal orbs. and indirect with a change like this comes trading to mind how are you going to "improve" that yes with " because it might as well be a nerf again. I would not be surprised that you guys would stop sites like poe.trade to "improve" trading... http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/913599 <--- mirror Thread

Very, very bad news. I spend about 20 eternals on a bow before the news and it was very long and hard farming. Now i can only dream about finishing that bow. I think my money will no longer drop for GGG to.
No respect for my time and money. SHAME GGG! |
