Today I finished all the guardians, Shaper and Uber Atziri. Without guardian or switching from CWDT+Ball lightning(for ee while clearing). Nice build.
The only prep I did do, was adding minion regen. I've seen people complaining about their spectres dying, and I've seen in other spectre threads here and on reddit an advice to add minion regen, because of their high hp pool. So I did. No spectres died. Will try to run guardian now. The sources of minion life regen are:
- 1.5% already taken on the tree
- 1% in the top spectre wheel
- 0.4-0.8(all one tier) from abyssal jewels
Regen should make your guys nearly immortal(except for skellies).
First(ever, on any build) attempt at Shaper went quite smoothly and would've been deathless if I didn't start to stupidly mess up in third phase. Next one should be deathless.
Uber atziri had one or two deaths on her, one on trio and one on stupidly popped abyss.
CWDT+Ball lightning is nice for clearing, some glove lightning enchantmets should work too. One Unending Hunger jewel should boost clearing speed too.

This is really helpful. What ascendancy choices did you go with?

I went with high budget melee skellies version. The only difference is grabbing regen in top spectre wheel and on jewels.

Hi Ghazzy,
Once again, great guide. I have some questions I hope you haven't answered already. I haven't had time to read the 60+ pages yet, but I did watch the video.
For your Mage Skeleton build, which set of gems are you putting in the Baron Helm?
In your PoB link for mage Skeletons, you didn't take Commander of Darkness, so what is the point of a low level Clarity aura here? Would something like Purity of Elements not be more beneficial?
In this build, you're not using Immortal Call+CWDT like in your solar guard build. Do you find this makes you more 'squishy'?
you touch on the difference between melee skeletons, and mages, and the spectre pairs each uses (Solar Guard and TV respectively). In your opinion, which do you prefer, and why? From the surface, I think I'm leaning more towards Mages/TV since I'm coming from your Solar Guard build and want to mix it up a bit.
Compared to your other Solar guard build, what do you like about this build, and what do you dislike about it?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for answering my question. One more follow up please.
What is the ball lightning for exactly? How do you use it if not in the CWDT setup? And when you are in the CWDT setup what do you take out to make room for the CWDT gem?
Thanks again.

Ball lightning is there to deal lightning damage and proc elemental equilibrium. It's good for clearing in CWDT because it triggers elemental equilibrium on mobs. But for bosses it's not ideal because slow projectile and unreliable triggering. Especially on things like Atziri where you want to burst through phases as fast as possible to not accidentally die to something.
So for mapping I use CWDT(-Immortal Call)-Ball Lightning and for high end bossing I, either use it manually(switch it with high level convocation) or use Orb of storm(manually too).
As to where to put CWDT, I pretty much copied high end melee skeletons version which has CWDT-Immortal Call by default.

Im going with melee skeletons/TV, I feel my skeletons are a little sub par from what I see on videos.
I can kill Shaper just fine, but couldn't kill the Uber Elder as i was oneshoted if i made any mistakes(damage seem fine, while i'm alive his HP drops fast but after first death i wasn't able to get back and stay alive).
I've got about 4 ex to expend, can anyone suggest what would be my priority to upgrade my gear? Just accessory/jewel with more life? would a 21/20 summon skeleton be a priority?

Gotcha.
I've played the entire season basically as a mage skelly lich queen. But I liked what your post had to say so I've just spent the last few hours adapting to your build.
I feel a bit clunky. For general clearing you have in your weapon CWDT, IC, ball lightning? Then you just charge through mobs and cast summon skeleton? That pretty much it?
Are you having to cast the skeletons pretty frequently? They seem to die a lot where as my spectres and guardian never budge.
I've got gear somewhat similar to yours minus the 6L chest. I've got a 5L though. Would you mind giving my character a look to see if anything is out of place?
I loved the Mage Skelly approach but I hated dying every time a mob looked in my direction.

This is not my build. This is Ghazzy's High(not really) Budget Melee Skeleton build. There is a video in the first few paragraphs of the OP( https://youtu.be/fjuYpqISrw8 with PoB link in the description). Solar Guards(minion damage, conc effect helmet) do the general clearing, and tukohama vanguards(burning damage, minion damage helmet) do high-end bossing(Atziris, Guardians, Shaper). I just charge through mobs(unless deadly) and Solar Guards blast everything. And I cast skellies in packs and flesh offering corpses. Shouldn't be clunky. Rest is flavor.
You need a minion damage, conc effect helmet for solar guards. Well, not really need, but it will boost their damage. You need a From Dust jewel so that you can summon 5 skeletons per cast. Regen for minions is for high end bossing only. Watch the video, Ghazzy goes over everything and there is a PoB link. Also, you need life on jewels.

I see some builds running Victario's Charity but I also see some builds running Lioneye's Remorse. I have both and am wondering which one I should be running and what determines this.
Charity is used with Necromantic Aegis keystone for higher clear speed.
Remorse or any other high life/res providing rare is used without NA for better defence :)

Small question, on the guide is says to take "Mistress" as the last node but on your character you took "Commander" instead, so i was curious which one would actually be better overall for melee skellies?
Mistress looks to be better for clear speed oriented builds whereas Commander is going to give you more damage and survivability.

I would LOVE to get the 1000str boost and keep my spammy casters. I am new and the part of the game I am digging is map clearing.
My questions right now are probably very obvious...but here goes.
What circumstances do the weapon recommended proc? Can it be replaced by a "better" item for my build?
Does mistress of sacrifice buff affect my minions? The tooltip is not clear to me.
I also was wondering if dropping aegis, putting on a better shield and using those points elsewhere would be a crushing loss? I think with a better shield, the 6 points I think I refund I could reach at least one to two extra gemslots in passive.
Thanks!
Hey,
Glad you're enjoying it!
1000 strength won't really do much for you tbh it's more of a waste to get it for this build imo.
Scourge procs on any hits, this includes Ball Lightning (or Orb of Storms for EE) as well as Shield Charge.
Mistress only affects you but is only used for enhancing the clear speed. I went for CoD to get more resistances instead since I'm playing in hardcore.
NA vs not using NA is a matter of taste, without it you get more life and/or jewels which means more life & better defence since you can use a high life/res providing rare shield.
Using NA grants you increased clear speed thanks to the Frenzy charges.

Just wanted to pop in and say: THANK YOU for the build!
I followed the higher budget version with specters and meele skeletons (with only some slight variations), and managed to do uber Elder and all other content in the game (uber Atziri, all breach lords, etc.)
Clearspeed is great with solar guards and only switched to TV's for the uber bosses.
Edit:
A thought I had (but didn't try it out), was to use hungry Loop (5L flame golem) ring with Clayshaper. Switching my jewels (exept 1 from dust) for primordial ones. Since the animate guardians dies a lot in the harder fights, I ended up replacing him for a golem (flame or stone depending on content) anyway.
What are your guys thoughts on it?
Not needed but could be really fun!
I personally feel the need for a rare ring in hardcore but in softcore I can imagine that being pretty damn nice.

Having a small issue with this build, while the damage is great, the lack of any real defense is really making hard to do things that have heavy physical damage. Like for example red tier elder guardians. So i'm curious if this is normal for the build and if there is a way to fix it please?
Drop NA and use a high life/res providing rare shield, it should make that feeling go away pretty fast :)

Hi,
i dont know if i wanna play your Spectre/Skeleton Hybrid or a LL Spectre build with defensive auras (puritys etc). Do you have experiences for both build and could helb me with my decision? I dont have much currency so i have to grow with the char. So ll could be difficult but safer?! Dont know...
Could it be possible to farm uber lab with a summoner Build? :D
Greetings,
Kranor42
Hey,
I'd rather do Spectre/Skellies over LL spectres since Skellies are so brokenly good atm.
It's also MUCH cheaper!
Uber lab is doable but the same as all other summoner builds, it's fine but don't run full key runs, it's too risky.

Hey,
Cheers! :D
Purity is always helpful if you can sustain it. Commander also grants your minions res & dmg output. It's again a matter of personal taste tbh. The Clarity would only be beneficial if you go with CoD, correct.
It's ok to skip IC but Porcupines can be risky if they explode in your face, I have a tendancy to play overly agressive even in hardcore so having IC is rather important for my playstyle.
I honestly don't have anything with this build that I dislike, I've used this before they buffed skeletons many years ago and it's just gotten better & better and now they are just brokenly overpowered.

Change your weapon for Brightbeak, it helps TONS vs end-game bosses to have proper mobility despite loosing a bit of dmg.
LvL 21 skellies are better than 20/20, and should be a high priority for Uber Elder, it will make a pretty big difference!
