[3.14] Flame Golem 101 - Complete Guide To Golemancy, ✔️All Bosses Down, ✔️Necro, ✔️Elementalist

Just wondering about possible alternatives to the fire golem setup - I can't afford a 2r, 1g, 3b skin of the loyal but the 2r, 2g, 2b pieces are MUCH cheaper. Are there any reasonable green support alternatives to combustion? Thinking faster/slower projectiles, chain or enhance perhaps? I don't have a great understanding of which support gems work well with minions.

hi Mika, thank you for your reply. What i meant was: if i summon the guardian with a +3 minions helmet and supporting gems (damage, life) andnthen swap the gem from the helmet to an unset ring, it will retain all the bonuses?

Yep, Necromancer leveling guide is made as league starter in mind. Necromancer with about 30c worth gear can take you up to lvl 13 using just Specters and Zombies, so you can switch to Golems when you get enough currency.

Necromancer is very well supported build and has tons of cheap and powerful uniques to trade for. I would not recommend using it in SSF, as it relies heavily on the uniques.

There is good alternative. with 2r2g2b you can use :

Golem -> Empower / Fire pene -> Echo -> Minion damage -> GMP -> Slower Projectiles

You 20% damage when compared to using Combustion, but you can do all map content already with 2r2g2b.

Not still 100% sure what you mean, but this is how I understand it :

1) You summon AG placed in helmet with +3 minion helmet, minion damage, minion life.
2) You take the AG gem out from helmet
3) You place it in unset ring
4) You ask if it will still be +3 level with minion life, etc in the ring?

What will happen is :
1) You summon AG placed in helmet with +3 minion helmet, minion damage, minion life.
2) You take the AG gem out from helmet
2.1) AG will be unsummoned
3) You place it in unset ring
3.1) You resummon AG
4) Now AG will have all it's gear but will only be 1 link as it checks where it is linked to when you summon it

Question about the defensive shield "rathpith" ... in legion it has a new line on it (they changed it):

"Sacrifice 4% of your Life when you Use or Trigger a Spell Skill"

Not sure if these line is too annoying or it is still usable? I mean we cast phase run/winter orb a lot ...

And yes, i will switch back to necro variant soon, bought 3b1g2r sotl, chayula amu, 6 link helmet ... but still need a shield and have to run lab to change from ele to necro.

Why? Thats easy imho: Don't like the spell lock my golems have with the pledge staff. Quite often i run in front and than i wait until someone attacks me so convocation activates ... or i wait for about 5-10 secs running around until my golems are done with spammig flame orbs everywhere ... and positioning golems is also not so easy as they move too fast with the amulet ...

BTW @mika. Not sure how to reach 600+ ES as you stated some pages before, the highest available ES shield on poe.trade has 442 ES (and cost 12 ex ^^)

Love when a build makes uber elder a breeze. Made my elementalist based on a mix of guides and characters ive seen on poe ninja. Been several leagues since id play golems, forgot how strong they were!

No luck on getting a +1 corrupt on the chest so far tho :(

what you think about this bow? when crafted +2 supp gems, it can give lvl 34 flame golems.
the shield is lost and 1 golem from the weapon, but you get another 6ink, whatever it is.

I have the same doubt (for a necromancer). It is rathpith the best shield for the build if you want to be deffensive? It is what the PoB recommends but it is not mentioned in the written guide.

Good catch on the Rathpith. I had left Rathpith in 2x leveling PoBs by accident and fixed them right away, thanks for notice! Rathpith is not good option for the build anymore and should be replaced with rare ES shield which has spell block.

For the Pledge variant, the Golems are not that slow with 6 link. Also switching Elemental Weakness makes clearing much faster, but you lose the knockback from the Projectile Weakness. However they tend to have different clear-speed than Golems + Specs. They are faster in some places and slower in other.

One way to try to fix the lock would be to make Golems cast faster as the speed of 4x repeats determines how fast Golems finish and are free to make another things like move. If you have 6-link Pledge, you could swap Combustion / Ele Focus to Faster Casting. 20/20 Faster Cast gives them 50% increased attack speed and Spell Echo gives 70% more making the cast speed boost huge. You will lose some damage from the orbs, but on the other hand Golems will be casting tons more. Not sure how DPS would change, but it could make setup more responsive.

Nex has lots of legacy gear in standard. They go way higher than new item drops in the league. Highest ES shield in trade is about 700 ES :

Gz on strong build and great gear! Doing Uber Elder easily required lot of skill added to strong build.

Golems are really nice to play and certainly come back after playing something else for a while. Hope you best of luck getting +2 Sotl asap ;)

Hard to say. With Primordial Chain and Elementalist it could be worth trying out as losing 1x Golems would not be as big deal. I guess each level to Golems gives roughly 10% more DPS and HP, so level 34 vs normal 26 level Golems in +1 Sotl with Empower 4 gain 80% more DPS. This is big increase but you lose the charges when compared to Vic's charity which is about 1.5x DPS multiplier alone if all charges are up.

If you get good supports skills with the bow, it could certainly be worth switching. Utopian has more experience in Bow based Golemancer, so you could check hes bow setup exaples. The teleportation arrow skill comes mind as excellent addition with bow.

Did the Minotaur Map last night. Cleared the map until the boss without dying. The boss smoked me though. I was dumb and was at about 89% exp too. lost all of it. It was also the first time my Animate Guardian died. It was on a corrupted rare, unidentified map so who knows what mods were.

Was so pissed that my AG died though.

As for the build, its been fun but I think I may switch to something else. My gear (I think) is decent, but there are some areas it could improve on. Just that those improvements cost a bit of ex for what seems like a fairly small increase. Iunno.

My condolences about your and AGs death on the boss.

Minotaur is worst boss for the build in the game. Ridiculous physical damage, tight arena and huge area of effect. Minotaur can be done somewhat reliably once the movement set is mastered, but it takes lot of trial and error to learn the pattern by heart.

You have to watch really carefully when Minotaur burrows underground and move immediately about 1/4 screens away from the position you are standing. Boss will always come up from your old position, and you can staybarely outside of the swings. Then repeat once boss burrows again.

Build can do all other maps pretty easily, but there's usually some maps or bosses to avoid if possible with each build. If you decide to switch, I wish that you find build that suits your play-style well. It's always nice to switch back to Golems after playing something else once in a while, so I would not immediately sell the Golemancer gear if you have enough currency ;)
