Constant disconnects when loading zones

bump
Daily reminder that GGG cares more about their SALES than their game or players by releasing supporter packs instead of responding to this thread despite the fact that this thread has over 60 pages of problems now.
Also having the same issue, disconnected during load screen. Also lost my map due to dc'in continues dc

Hi,

I just want to add my data to this heavily reported problem.

Since 3.0 game is really hard to play because of technical problems, especially during campaign. Almost each time I change zone (sometimes every 2-3 zones) I got very long loading time finished with "An unexpected disconnection occurred" & return to login screen.

After reaching maps endgame, I'd like to share my observation on this problem, because it varies depends on the zone type.

- It is very frequent during Acts playthrough. Sometimes EACH new zone I enter resulting with "An unexpected disconnection occurred" & return to login screen, sometimes I'm able to do 2-3 zones before it happens. Levelling, because of that, was real pain, tears & a lot of swearing...

- It also happen to act cities zones.

- It basically does not happen in small areas: Vaal zones, Masters missions zones.

- It is very rare (fortunately) in case of endgame Maps. But even now, in endgame, start playing is still pain & multiple minutes of "unexpected disconnects" & long wait times until finally game is working +/- smoothly. Please see "Test procedure" below for details.

And just want to add: I play since almost closed beta (not regularly) as semi-casual, played multiple characters & 3 times hitting 80+ levels on Challenge Leagues.
I generally love your game, great content, very deep (possibly even too deep if you have a job & life xD), especially after 3.0 release. I also bought multiple times premium stash tabs to support your game. As I die-hard fan of Diablo franchise (hundred of hours in D2 & D3), I must admit that your game is beating them in many aspects - but not in terms of technical issues :-(

"Test procedure":

This is how game behaves from the start (just after turning on PC). All logs attached are related to this one procedure run.

1. I start the game (32-bit client in this case).
2. Login menu appears
3. After login character menu appears
4. [PROBLEM] After selecting character & entering game, frequently I also receive "Your authentication for instance transfer was invalid." - see logs. It causes back to Login screen, but is not a big deal, because it is responding quite quickly.
5. I try again select character & enter game. I'm entering last city, f.ex. Highgate.
6. [PROBLEM] After long wait time on Highgate zone loading screen, I receive "An unexpected disconnection occurred" & return to login screen.
7. [PROBLEM] Try again, sometimes in this step I sucessfully enter town, but sometimes (as in this case, see logs), second try is the same result as step above.
8. On third try I sucessfully enter Highgate town.
9. I go to waypoint & enter Hideout.
10. [PROBLEM] The same. After long loading screen on Hideout, "An unexpected disconnection occurred" & return to login screen.
11. Retry. Sucessfull Highgate town enter & sucessfull waypoint Hideout enter.
12. Now I can play maps & enter other players hideouts without any problem for some time (1-2-3 hours, or immediately if I want to enter some campaign zone). Then upon entering new zone/map: got again "An unexpected disconnection occurred", & situation is looking again the same as step 2. on this list... And the whole "not-fun" is again...

From the whole "test procedure". Looks fine

From the whole "test procedure".

Unfortunately (due to double graphic card laptop) not 100% accurate, graphic card in DxDiag is integrated one, real one used is shown in POE Options image below

- Path of Exile options: https://imgur.com/a/yNGCM
All to minimum. I tried different settings (Dx11, Multithreading etc.), with the same result. This is just the setting that I hope will have less frequent disconnects.

This is when the game is finally +/- stable after "test procedure.

- My Internet provider is fine, standard cable (ASDL) connection, does not have problems with any other services/games/applications.

- Drivers installation, fresh game installation, etc. - all of that usual steps done, without any effect

- I run standalone client (not Steam), without any run arguments (tried --nopreload without any effect)

How we play game?

I complate shaper realm few minute ago. I Lost 3 portal because of error.

You just adding new effects for sale and its so funny.

Stop trying to update the game with inexperienced programmers!
Spend money and find one(at least one, just fucking 1!) senior software developer.
WE WANNA PLAY GAME!
i have the same problem and i cant enter act2 riverways map. i tried more than 10 times. tried everything i just cant get in that map. guildmate opened other wp so i kept playing. even my older lvl91 character cant enter that map now. some maps take 3-4 try and i have to run all the way every time since dc closes portals too.
Here it is weeks after 3.0 and the game is almost completely unplayable.

With the constant dc's and lag it would be better for me to pound my head with a brick. At least when I stop hitting myself it can feel better.

GGG YOUR GAME IS BROKEN. The only thing I can do is this.

UNTIL GAME IS FIXED I WILL NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM YOU. After 3.0 I bought more stash tabs but I can't use them as your damn game is broken.

NOT ONE MORE CENT FROM ME TIL FIXED.
You know what's curious?
The staff didn't even bother replying here once!

Not a "we are aware of this"
Not a "we are working on this"
Just simply nothing afaik.

What does that tell ya..

I'm not saying burn them on the stake, but I really wish they would communicate at least ONCE regarding an issue affecting several people.

Is GGG actually aware of this problem?
The last bit about GGG being aware of the problems interested me.

I honestly can't see how they can't be awake so many of us are having severe problems playing this great game. (It is great, because of that I'm still here).

I think it's a matter of willingness to spend money. Servers are expensive. Servers that lag everything must be much cheaper. Perhaps it's as simple as that.

It is totally puzzeling to me that GGG has made any comments at all.
In fact it blows my mind and makes me wonder.
Oh well, have fun guys

I doubt that it's as simple as that.

For one, I tried several different gateways with the same result, while other players I asked about seem completely fine for that matter.

Also, my internet is sporadically slow every few seconds (guessed) and I notice that while browsing. Here and there it is absolutely slow, as if there were some sort of DNS delay.

When I happen to load into another zone/instance during 'the slow', there is a chance that I get disconnected by the server as it doesn't get a response from my client within the time limit set on the server.

Once I'm in zones it's perfectly fine.
Same for like streams on my browser etc. Once the site is loaded it works as intended. Only when it needs to load new resources it's slow.
With slow I really mean that it's not responding for a short time.

This hints to some sort of relay problem or something like that.
I didn't see any ping related problems during the transition into other zones or during normal play, when the browser sill has problems loading a page for a bit.

It almost looks like the PoE client is routing all the connections through a bad DNS server.

Note that all this is just a guess. I have no hard proof of any of this, but it makes sense in my head.

Also, the problems are limited only to this local machine when the PoE client is running. No other machines experience any of the mentioned problems.

As soon as I close the client, no problems while browsing whatsoever.

I may do some more extensive testing to find out where my internet is being routed through if I find the time.

If this happens to be true, I really don't appreciate that all my local connections are being routed by a companies application.
If I want that, I have a VPN client!

Could any of the staff please look into it and explain what exactly is happening regarding the routing?

EDIT:
To be precise, the problem occurs once the client swaps to another server.
This can be in uber lab, in someone's ho (when trading) or any map or area.
The connection seems to time out randomly when trying to connect to the new server where the new instance is located.
This only happens every few instance swaps and is not related to a number of swaps.

Still can't figure out why it affects my browser etc!

I'm not skilled enough to do extensive testing with wireshark etc. Although it is GGG's support who should actually be doing that!
I'd like to think that they are, but since, again, they didn't reply here not even once, I have troubles thinking that they are working on it somehow.

I am glad that worked for you. Some really good ideas being shown here. Some days are better than others. Todays gaming for me wasn't the worst, only disconnected 5 times completely, changing towns can be a problem and was today, got booted to login then it worked sorta.

Good luck guys.
