While I was waiting for the new league to start, I wanted to take a crack at crafting a rare helmet so that I could learn the process in case we decide to go that direction in 3.17.

There are currently 876 Warlord influenced helmets on sale. Not a single one of them has the Incinerate enchant.

This does not bring me any warm and fuzzies in hoping one of these will be available with our enchant in 3.17.....

buy any rare helmet with the incinerate enchant and then use a warlord's exalted orb on it to get the influence. They are around 1ex.

edit: the warlord orb is 1ex. Also, the helmet has to be item level 85 or higher to roll the fire res mod. Use this search:

I am little confused on the order though. Warlord Orbs can only be rolled on rare's but I thought I was suppose to use fossils on a plain helmet with warlord influence.

What would be the order here? Do I just buy one of those helmets with open suffix, slam it with the orb and hope I hit the one prefix I need?

edit: Never mind, I think I figured it out. Fossils can be used on rare items over and over kind of like chaos orbs. I guess the best way to think of fossils is like a chaos orb only with a little more control over what you can target.

thank you! I have seen this site before but have always been shy about using it because I lack so much basic knowledge about crafting.

I think I should lower my head and try though else I am never going to learn.
Thanks to your guys encouragement I think I was able to first simulate and then emulate crafting a helmet looking for the key suffix (on craftofelile).

Getting the one roll seems basic enough, but getting anything else decent seems like it could get expensive pretty quick with some bad RNG.

I guess that is what has always scared me about crafting. I keep having the negative mind set that if I craft something, it will end up being more expensive than buying it and getting exactly what I need.

This helmet though is a good thing to learn on since finding an exact rare with what we want on trade looks to be impossible. The closest I can find are helmets that are clearly for RF and those are UBER expensive.

Life would be so much easier if GGG would just make helmet enchanting a little more obtainable on our own.

Imagine if the helm enchants offered are based on the skill gems you have socketed... (of course we would cheese it by removing all other gems except incinerate).

But anyways, lab is going away in POE2, so I doubt they will do anything to fix this, and now 3.17 there's no more prophecies (so no double enchant per run)

We actually have two options with Warlord influenced helmets.

1. Nearby Enemies have -9% to fire resistance
2. +#% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier

Both options are within 100k dps of each other so either would be fine IMO.

For option 1:

1. Buy i85 or higher helmet with +2 Incinerate enchant
2. use a Warlord exalt to get the influence. (must be rare so alch first if not)
3. if you get -9% fire res and decent other rolls you're done. If not step 4.
4. Use scorched fossils until you hit -9%. Average is 18 scorched fossils.
5. if you don't hit decent rolls for other options such as life or don't have an open prefix to craft +life keep doing step 4 if you can afford it until you do.

For option 2:
1. Buy i75 or higher helmet with +2 Incinerate enchant
2. scour and transmute to make blue if not already
3. roll with alts and regal until you hit two good prefixes and any suffix. T2+ life and T2+ armour/es would be good for prefixes
4. craft "Prefixes cannot be changed"
5. use harvest reforge rare with a critical modifier. Only available critical modifier is the global crit multi mod that we want so it's guaranteed.
6. if you hit the T1 value you are done. If you only hit T2 or T3 you have the option to say "good enough" or if funds allow go on to step 7.
7. if you have an open suffix you can craft "prefix's cannot be changed" again and then try another harvest reforge. If not go to next step.
8. if you don't have an open suffix you can try and remove a suffix with an annulment orb and then start again from step 4.
9. if step 8 failed start over from step 2.



If anyone sees anything I missed please chime in.

On option 2, step7, what is the reason you have to craft "prefixes can not be changed" if it was already crafted in step 4? Does the harvest craft remove that?
