Our Reasoning Behind the 3.13 Launch Delay
No one else in the game industry would bother with a direct-to-fan explanation like this. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work and keep making smart decisions.
And please nerf all loot quantity on the next expansion. It's gotten way out of control! It would ruin PoE2. |

You know that shit's hit the fan when Chris drops an f-bomb... But seriously...
Thanks for keeping it real, Chris. This was pretty much what I'd assumed the BTS explanation was for things, but it's nice to hear the details from the source. 1. GGG team gets a break at XMas, and avoids the dreaded crunch? Win! 2. Players get a better-tested, more-polished League in the New Year? Win! 3. Non-Cyberpunk payers also get a between-League palate cleanser event? Win! Looks to me like a win, win, win situation, which is a pretty solid saving throw, given the circumstances. Personally, I can't wait to see what you have on tap to keep us thirsty PoE fans happy over the holidays, and the prospect of a truly bug-free league launch has me making the happy noise. While this is far back on the posts I really appreciate the transparency on this difficult decision.

Thank you for clarifying from yesterday Chris. I appreciate your level of openness on this topic.
I feel from a community communication standpoint, this post would have been superior to yesterday's post and maybe would have been responded to in a more positive light then yesterdays. A lot has happened in the last 36 hours for gaming in general, and especially for you and the company you and so many others have dedicated hours upon hours to make exceptional. One question or point of clarification. In yesterdays post you had made it explicitly clear that extra time between now and 3.13's launch would NOT be used to improve 3.13, but rather would go towards 3.14. Was that in reference to development staff vs testing/bug fixing staff? Was that in reference to organizational resources? I and a few others are a bit confused between yesterday's explicit "No" towards extra time for 3.13's polish, development, and release and today's explicit "Yes" towards extra time for 3.13's polish, development, and release. Thanks for all your hard work in making a game that I play each and every day and enjoy it all the way! IGN: Steeldraconis

Thanks for your candor, Chris. You got stuck between a rock and a hard place, and you made the right call. I look forward to the next expansion when it comes out, and to buying more supporter packs/stash tabs/MTX along the way.

Hi. Loyal PoE player here. I am very happy about this decision and support it fully even IF I was a player who wanted an earlier release. The reasoning is very sound.
Benefits: - Time to play Cyberpunk. - Not ruining player numbers at launch, from a business PoV. - GGG employees getting a damn well deserved break. - Most importantly, as a player, DELIVERING A FINISHED LEAGUE! The only downside? - Later launch I can wait. I'm not going anywhere. Thank you for your transparency. It's very appreciated. Last edited by Pro#1622 on Oct 29, 2020, 9:42:11 PM
