Descent.

I am a terrible player, especialy for racing, but i, for some reason enjoyed Descent races immensely.

Ironically, that mode revealed to me that I actually *really* like rogue-lites and rogue-likes. Starting over every league, with no real progression and aiming to follow this meta or that is inherently boring to me. But the purity of using what you find, hoping to get lucky but knowing even if you don't, you have to make the best of whatever drops...that's the heart and soul of an ARPG for me, and PoE truly found that heart and soul in Descent. Perhaps it would have lost its lustre after a few runs through -- as PoE itself did -- but I think when you strip it down to luck of drops, a basic Diablo 1 setup and little else, the replay value is somewhat higher than when you factor in drudgery like trading, repeating the same old quests, exploiting league gimmicks and dealing with a game balanced around the assumption players will do all of those.

Slight tangent related to Descent
Strangely enough, the roughshod but functional 'randomizer' mode of Bloodstained: Ritual of The Night serves a similar replayable RNG-dictated function quite well -- instead of grinding certain known mobs for desirable items/skills, you are forced to kill everything thoroughly to see which enemies can spawn which items/skills. You might get really lucky...but at first, it's almost certainly a tough game without the scripted progression of gear and skills.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Agreed, and, maybe one of these days we will get another chance at playing the same, even if it is just for a week like theese upcoming events are.

Heres to hoping.
If Battle Royale, the "new game" April Fool they made is considered "old" just like Descent, then I'll say Darkshrine League. Not really sure how to place it, but it was too odd to define a League for me.

The idea to turn rare trash item into... something more than just currencies was good. The idea to turn them into actually valuable things was better (Open portals to unique maps, simulate a Kaom unique chest, summon frigging Abaxoth, even summon a Grandmaster either as ally or for in the area where you were). The fact they made some encounters only available with Darkshrines was awesome. I will always hate the fact I was still too new to try to make the Vagan trial. The idea of having 15-20 Vagans attacking me taunting with "Who taught you how to fight? Your mother?!" should have been priceless.

Unfortunately Flashback events outshined this odd yet funny "league", so it's not usually reminisced by the playerbase.
Me, I put it just under "Legacy" as something I'd replay again with the knowledge I've gathered and the new game rules we have.
Watching Havoc , live , doing world first HC Uber Atziri kill .

I remember doing Ledge, Fellshrine and Docks farm runs in a full party after beating max difficulty (Merciless).
That was before the first league (Anarchy).

I used mainly Dominating Blow and my party hated me for that ;)

P.s.

Leap slam worked with Multistrike back then and it looked hilarious.
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks

I like to call that "letting RNGesus take the wheel". :)
Just a lowly standard player. May RNGesus be with you.
