Support Creators by Purchasing Armour Sets on Nexus

In good conscience I couldn't support the 'streamers' due to their 1% views on Harvest (apart from https://www.twitch.tv/pathofmatth the only one to have any integrity).

The norther remembers.

Interesting. One the one hand 8% seems like pennies on the dollar. On the other hand, it's 8% which is better than nothing at all. If there is 0 cost to the streamer to become an affiliate, it results in some extra change in their pocket. It could add up on top of any other $ people just throw at them while watching a stream.

I am not up on my streamer & game company kick-back program know-how so are any other companies doing this?

I somewhat disagree with that, because this promotion is only advertised on the Streamer's shop. If I wanted to buy the "Spectre Armour Set" and only checked POE's shop, I wouldn't know that that armor is in Nguyen's shop for the same price.

So in a way what GGG is doing here is profiting out of the viewership and fanbase of individual streamers to advertise certain POE content on their stores.

Sure, the streamer had no effort in making the MTX, but they are providing GGG with players, potential clients and viewers, along with an added 'emotional' value (supporting the streamer) that may warrant a fan to spend 84$ on a MTX, less than 7$ of which go to the streamer.

In the long run this partnership may also become harmful because a viewer that spends 84$ on a MTX with the intent to support the streamer, is less likely to spend 84$ on donations that will ACTUALLY support the streamer.

Even a fraction of that, 10$, is a lot better than the cut they're currently getting.
Hmm. This works for cosmetic points? Guessing not?
It will convert your forum titles into decorative square badges that use the space next to your forum posts more economically so that you can show off an unlimited number of them at any one time. - GGG, 2018 (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3573673)
Is there a reason anyone would want to purchase mtx through this method (besides supporting the creator) when supporter packs exist?

It's almost a matter of perspective but yeah if say a viewer wanted to support a streamer, they can probably spend like $4 or whatever it is on a "superchat" or something and it would cost the same if not slightly more but 100% of that (I think unless twitch or youtube or whatever also gets a cut) is going to the streamer without having to spend x10 that amount via MTX. This affiliate program is designed so that if you are already in the market for some MTX, you can get it at the streamer store instead. I think you're right that if they advertised on their own shop that you can get some available MTX at the streamer shop instead, that would go a long way.

Again I say it is a matter of perspective because it's not like the streamers went to some negotiating table and negotiated a cut. It's GGG basically just pro-bono throwing some $ over the fence. I mean it's true that the streamer is advertising their game, but they would have done so anyway, and without the program they would see no $$ at all.

It does potentially pigeonhole them in to more company or game bias if they were to participate in that sweet sweet 8% nectar, but as a viewer you pretty much know who is objective and who's not, and you can support them, or not.

I can’t buy any more big supporter packs because the forum only supports showing 7 legacy tags.
it's funny how a combine set(840 points) cost almost the same as the harvest suporter pack(2400 points) on my region since they don't have regional prices
This is not really supporting creators it's supporting GGG's sales numbers while making you falsely believe you're being altruistic. You can support creators in a zillion ways where 50-95% of what you send to them ends up in their pockets.

Buying expensive MTX while dropping a few pennies to the streamers is just lame. It only makes sense in games where you can buy items that actually represent the streamer or are designed by the streamer. (Ok Jousis putting the clown outfits in his store is pretty hilarious but I'd rather give him the money and not buy ugly MTX.)
Seems like the same 8 armor sets for all content creators. None of them are really my taste. Would be nice if we could purchase some of the older armors that are no longer available. I'd love to get my hands on the Seeker Armour Set. :(

All of this 'support' for the LEAST optimized game on the market. Fuck this

Hahaha. Oh, you're serious? Lemme laugh harder.

"Least optimized?" You aren't even trying bro. You can call GGG out for a lot of things but did you completely miss the dumpster fire that was Wolcen's release? What about a non ARPG with Cyberpunk 2077?

PoE can be a lot of things but "least optimized" isn't remotely one of them. At least complain about something logical like how ridiculously high priced armor sets still are or whatever.
I hope that when the world comes to an end I can breathe a sigh of relief; because there will be so much to look forward to.
