Path of Exile 3.16 Balance - Part 2 - Core Character Defences and Recovery

Please think about Necromantic Aegis. It's mainly used as an offensive boost, with 99% of them being unique shield, but now, it will be 100% for sure. This keystone being only use for unique shield make it quite inappropriate for SSF or rare shield.

Fortify has been reworked to grant its' full benefit while having 5 "fortify charges" (20% effective of your maximum fortify buff per charge)
To gain charges of fortify you'll need to strike enemies with melee hits, travel/movement skills will grant 1 charge per enemy struck (possibly no more than every 0.4 seconds unless you want a caster to shield charge a pack and gain full fortify effect), strike skills and non-slam/travel/movement skills grant 2 or 3 fortify charges and slam skills grant 5 fortify charges.

And these higher base values. 10% ... This doesn't impact anything. Currently I probably never had a character with more than 5 - 6k Armour. Needing 25k Armour to mitigate a reasonable amount of damage to make it worthwile my Astral Plate alone should offer 5-6k Armour while maintaining life and atleast 2 influenced mods ... Same with Evasion. Evasion + Dodge was nice and strong. Evasion alone is as bad as armour - I would say even worse.


It's funny how you in the first part complain that every item that does not have the max. 10% roll will be trash and in the second part complain that the 10% roll does not impact anything. Which one is it now?

Also 6k armour is not very high. That you never built more than that is not a fault of the game. I agree that it does not come automatically though, everything in PoE needs to be built into, be it defenses or damage. If you just take what you obviously get offered it will feel bad.


Ok to clarify my 10% statement on a different example:

If I find a Shaper Ilv.86 Titanium Spirit Shield now it sells for about 100c. If I find it in 3.16 with a 0% roll of the new "rng base value" it probably sells for 5c while a max 20% (ES Base was 20%?!) will sell for 100c. So a lot less items will be worth picking up or even trading.

If I find a Hunter Astral Plate Ilv.86 it now sells for about 200c +- ... If I find it in 3.16 with a 0% roll it will probably sell for 190c while it'll sell for 210c on max roll because 10% more Armour is just what? 100 more Armour? If u need 25k to have a reasonable armour damage mitigation 10% is just a joke.

I guess the ES types will benefit more as it is basically "increased Life" for ES based builds. But Armour and Evasion - that's 200 more A/Ev on a 2k A/Ev Base ... Boots with 250 Armour will get 25 extra Armour on max roll ... Lol ... What a buff xD


I truly hope the way you're viewing those "heterogeneity" changes is the correct one, because when I read that, I thought of it in the complete opposite direction and an absurd nerf to defenses overall. Basically I saw it as: the max roll (+10 or +20) is what you get NOW (3.15) for an item, everything below that is a worse base than what we currently have.

Hopefully you're the right one in this point, but I do agree wholeheartedly with the fact that ES bases will now all be trash unless you're getting +19 at the very minimum. The other two will see a miniscule benefit when being perfectly rolled, but not by enough to make them crap in the market.

I've got friends, but unless we're specifically building our characters around group play, it is more efficient to play solo. We'll be on discord with each other chatting, but we don't group up.

Group play advantages:
Shared costs
Specialized group builds and roles

Group play disadvantages:
You don't progress your atlas or build your map supply
You often miss out on league mechanics
You get less loot

Building for group play and doing nothing but group play is the most effective money making strategy there is. But building a solo character and trying to play in a group with other solo characters is just worse than playing solo. Casual group play should be a thing that doesn't suck.

Absolutely wrong thinking! When we pick up ES item off the ground we calculate how much ES would it get with 48% quality, because Hillock and 18% quality craft AVAILABLE to everyone!

While many will dislike this comment, this is a simple fact. I am not interested in being a trial dummy or a QA engineer. There is no way to test all these changes without a PTR of some kind. All these changes should take 6 months to implement, not 3, it is simply not feasible.

Every league seems to be geared around beta testing buffs, nerfs, new or changed vision of the game, etc... I'll skip this one and come back once the game is in a state where I know exactly what I am signing up for, not the slot machine it is currently in.
