3.17.4 Patch Notes Preview

The only available graphic renderers in options are directX11 and Vulka Beta. DiretX12 Beta isn't listed. I'm using STEAM version, so could that be the reason? I'm hoping the new renderer actually utilizes my GPU so less load can be taken off my CPU since that fan is loud as hell, lol.

reading is hard...patch ain't out yet.
Also, steam and standalone are basically the same thing, the difference between renders will highly depend on individual computers and how it's implemented and utilized. Some games are basically flying with DX12, some are...well...look at division 2.

The word preview is where i Got slain, heh. As for the performance aspect part. According to google DX11 utilizes mostly cpu, but DX12 brings in better gpu and cpu 'togetherness' so-to-speak. Kudos to The Developers for finally making its debut. Now we just have to wait for the unreal 5 engine / VR update.

Dx12 might be a huge performance upgrade.

Engine and Technical Changes

Added a Beta version of our new DirectX 12 renderer. To test it out, go to the graphics options and change the renderer option. Please report any problems you run into in the Bug Reports forum. Thanks!

This is fantastic news for people who's graphics hardware fully support DirectX.

I would kindly ask that PoE does not give up a legacy DirectX version such as 11. This way older graphics hardware can still play poe.

For example Nivida 900 series is where full directx12 support begins.
Cards below the 950 gtx don't support DirectX 12 Hardware, though they may support DirectX 12 Software. Modern games when utilizing directx 12 need the graphics card to support directx 12 hardware side. software will not cover this.

For anyone else who doesn't understand. If your gpu is less than the nvidia 900 series your card is trying to handle directx 12 in software, it doesn't have dedicated hardware for directx 12.

I have no idea what the case is for AMD, they can use vulkan I guess. heh

so much dev time wasted on joystick support only to make botting easier on pc. why, ggg?

Fixed a bug where the chance for Slain Monsters to drop an additional Scroll of Wisdom modifier on the Perandus Signet Unique Ring only affected Rare Monsters.

Can't wait to level a build welding 2 of these rings for the rest of another abandoned league.
