I think GGG should be more transparent and tell us how they changed the monster modifiers. We aren't dumb, we can see the changes. Silent buffing monster mods without telling us is a sneaky way to slowly reintergrate AN mods. Give it another few leagues and AN mods will be back in full force like it's former self.


Given that people use the term "AH Mods" and "Rare Monster Mods" to mean the same thing to the point of both terms losing all meaning, I dispute your first two assertations.

Exactly, and now I just leave that rare standing there and keep moving. They aren't worth my time. I just see them as a way to waste my time. I'm tired of the tedium. What's more valuable, killing every AN monster or skipping them and just doing more maps? Even if it's close (which I highly doubt it is) I am spending my time doing something far more enjoyable by skipping them.

Rares used to be an Opportunity.
They are now a Punishment.

They Take your time
Often cannot be killed because of modifiers like massive regen , total immunity to you character. I have no shortage of stories, of impossible encounters at this point.

So I skip them , while leveling there is NO reason to interact with them .
In fact if you do you are penalizing yourself. Just walk on by.

I do now , bypass each and every one i see. In fact i now just ignore 80% of the content including the league mechanic. Wonder when GGG will figure out that soon, ignoring 100% of the game is the way to go .

It now suits my new gameplay style.
The "I don't care" style.

Ohh look a mob i NEED to kill .
Kite it to a respawn point and ......

Die , respawn run at mob hit with largest attacks right on top of it.
Die , respawn run at mob hit with largest attack.
Die , respawn run at mob hit with largest attack.
Die , respwan ....

bout 20 or so of those is
1) faster that actually engaging with the mobs.
2) you get to hum the Benny Hill song while you do it.
3) the only risk is hitting respawn in town vs revive.

I find the Benny Hill song really summarizes the game direction.
Try it, im not kidding, its much faster to just die 20 times rushing the mob at a respawn than to play the game.

Roughly the same time you come to that realization.

Also, there was a day prior to AN that rare mobs where litterally immune to your damage, not it's just figurative hyperbole.
Avoiding/abusing specific condition should or should not be considered as being successful ?

I absolutely agree. It just kills all the enjoyment and makes the game generate negative feelings.

Random deaths out of fucking nowhere (soul eater surrounded by endless mobs, or invulnerability aura in a cluster of blue harvest mobs that rain cold on you, etc etc). Near-invulnerability, coupled with insane regen. AND probably insane damage.

Rare mobs used to be a good find. OH! GOTCHA!
Now it's a source of bad feelings.

Most crappy addition to the game EVER.

I really am fine with most of them but soul-eater is a blight on the game that doesn't remotely fit with how we play.
Most of them are not fine.

How about a hasted harvest mob who - despite being hindered AND chilled - was like x5 faster than my mage?
Impossible to kite, enough dps to kill me in like 2-3 hits (which thankfully were also extremly fast). How the fuck is that enjoyable experience?

Fire and ignite resistant mobs... My explosure + curses gives them negative fire resistance, but it still takes a LOT of time to kill them. I deal direct fire damage, so no it's not about the ignite duration, they just refuse to take fire damage. Great mechanics eh. And dont get me started about cycling damage reduction.

Oh! Oh! My new favourite. 'Drains energy shield and mana' with defensive properties AND with enough movement speed to catch up on PC (+30% ms ofc) even while being hindered and chilled. SO FUN.

Heist? I just do white contracts now, because with AN mods they are WAY too rippy otherwise.

Listen to ZiggyD - link above. Rare mobs now make this game unenjoyable. They are just a source of grief. If that was your goal, GGG, good job.

the worst of all with the AN is not only that the mechanism of this bankrupt league is bad and responsible for the destruction of the loot in the game, but the fact that it manages to make ALL OTHER mechanisms MUCH WORSE than they were, if the AN were left in a statue in ecstasy only on the maps as it was in their league everyone would ignore them and life would go on, but the AN entered everything and ruined delv, Heist, Expeditin etc...
- as for making white maps and contracts, from what I'm seeing, that's what GGG wants because not only are the mods increasingly stupid, but the reward doesn't exist.
If this is the direction POE2 is heading, prepare for failure, we've been warning you about this since AN came out, look what happened with D4, they ignored the criticisms made in the beta and now there's a dead game in less than 2 months
The whole concept of random yellow mobs being stronger than the endgame bosses is just........ meeeh....

No matter how we call them, we know that the current rares are still the byproduct of AH. Chris said 'broken' mod combinations will be rare, meanwhile I still keep seeing them in almost every map/Heist/Logbook, and their drops are of course still underwhelming.
