Stuck in a loop of downloading patch content, restarting client

Hi there

I logged into PoE and got a message that a patch needs to be updated, and to restart my client. I clicked ok, stopped the client, and started it again - saw that content was downloading, and eventually PoE started. Got the same message - restarted again, all the content was downloaded again... and then the same thing happened again.

This has happened about 5 times now. I even restarted my laptop, and the same thing happened again.

this new patch fucked everything, i cant even load the game now.. it was running perfectly yesterday.

Same here. Content download loop (repeats ad infinitum), I was launching via Steam on a Mac Mini M1.

My alternative, GEForce Now, is stuttering like crazy now (was fine yesterday).

Same here intel iMac 27 2020, Steam, reinstall doesn't help

non-Intel mac is another new world......the game is design for PC and run on M1 chip in emulation mode......probably you should try to secure a Intel-Mac to test will it run first. If it is M1 chip problem, blame Apple.....and probably blame GGG not officially announce Mac is not recommend platform to play due to no intention to full rewrite the whole game to run in M1 in native mode

Possibly a different, but similar, problem. When attempting to download the latest patch, the Mac tells me:

(null): "Path of Exile.app" couldn't be copied to "Path of Exile" because an item with the same name already exists.

There's been a recent security patch for the Mac -- could this be the problem?

I have the same issue since today.
It says "There has been a patch that you need to update to. Please restart Path of Exile."

If I restart, Steam will download the update, start the game and the same thing happens again.

I also use a Macbook M1, but I doubt its a MacOs only problem, there are forum reports of the same issue with windows users from 2021.
