POE2: six or seven acts?
In 2019, at Blizzcon, we were told and showed POE2 would have seven acts. I checked just now the official POE2 website, and it says
"Path of Exile 2 features a brand new campaign with six acts..." So they dropped an entire act? Was that talked about during Exile 2023? Last bumped on Jan 21, 2025, 4:41:53 PM

They said six in the keynote.

" Updated information. I think they realized that 6 acts are enough to tell the story considering they introduced the new modular way how to interact with them which adds tons of more content than before. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore

The other thing to keep in mind is that because the two games are split now, there's no more need to try and ensure that the two campaigns are equivalent in terms of time expended and rewards/items/material gained. The new PoE2 campaign might offer you 40 skill-book points instead of 24 (I think it's 24?) and throw you into Endgame at level 50 instead of level ~65. They can totally do stuff like that with the two games split.

" I still would like to know the REAL reason it went from 7 to 6, from GGG's mouth. :) | |
It took longer than poe1s 10 acts to finish probably.

" No. There is no reason for them to answer you. They aren't beholden. And any answer they give won't be good enough for you regardless. |

POE2 takes place 20 years after POE1. There will be a whole new story not a retelling of POE1.

" if true then probably not because they have too much to answer for at this point, They made changes to PoE1 which shouldn't have happened if the games weren't merging endgames. Innocence forgives you Last edited by SilentSymphony#3358 on Aug 2, 2023, 10:28:54 PM

" The most likely reason is they hit their target gameplay length and story content with 6 acts and a 7th felt like fat they could trim. Not very scandalous but it’s the most likely reason. |
