Content Update 3.22.0 -- Path of Exile: Trial of the Ancestors

(+) I like the atlas tree changes and new "keystones for casuals"
(+) The "rework" of tormented spirits, vaal side areas and some beyond stuff is cool if they become comparably lucrative to other league mechanics
(+) Shifting the meta with changes like the shift of premium XP farming from legion to maybe breach is cool but should happen more often (5-way was king for a f*ing long time)
(+) New support gems seem interesting but can't say without lvl 20 gem details. The push towards some melee ignite or bleed build is pretty obvious, old EQ bleed enjoyers will get a new meta build, hopefully.
(~) I can see that skill changes are not the focus right now because balance is changed in so many other places right now (skill tree, atlas tree, 14 new supports) BUT the community is urging for changes to underused skills for a long ass time... please dedicate more ressources on that front.
(-) The huge ruthless balance update really sucks. I makes us all wonder if that time could not be better spent on balancing ascendancies for the base game... looks really bad from the players perspective...
(-) The lack of info on the meaning of some guardian and chieftain ascendancy notes is annoying.

Thanks for the ruthless changes GGG.
Those are really welcome.
Especially jugger nerfs and determination + grace

Guys try ruthless. Its awesome. You are just accustomed to the normal game too much. (which is not a good future way to play the game)
POE2 is really hard and you will have a lot less... it wont have a ruthless mode... it will be the normal way to play the game... so unless you maybe learn to play a more difficult game before its release, you won't be hit that hard at release.
This is operating under the assumption that I want to play poe 2. I would much rather play poe 1 as it is now than a slowed down harder game from the same developers. Grim dawn for example manages a slower aarpg style well. Poe stands out because it isn't a slow slog through the dust and grime. If I wanted that I'd play dark souls. Over my 15 years or so of gaming I've come to appreciate how poe stands out from other aarps and I'm not too happy they are abandoning that element.

Well okay then POE1 Normal mode is your game.
I think when GGG releases POE2 then Ruthless mode in POE1 is not needed anymore and the POE1 devs can put their attention to the normal game again.
So a win win in the future :)
Removing the Legion exp feels really unnecessary. It’s already hard enough as it is to get exp and now people will have to do breachstone and simulacrum rotas again. And we all know how enjoyable that used to be. Horrible change

🔷🔶🔰🌀✨Make trade like the Grand Exchange from RuneScape✨🌀🔰🔶🔷

Let us zoom out more. Bring back 32:9, Heist Alt Quality Gems, Gear Enchanting, Prophecy, Metamorph & Crucible. Stop removing content from the game. Stop nerfing everything. Stop making the game slow
For anyone wondering why there is so many ruthless patch notes... it is because there is less red tape.

If they mess stuff up there is not a massive outcry and monetary risk involved.

That work can be done in less than 2 days by one person, but testing is that is not a 2 person job... especially since ruthless is slowed down to a crawl.

Stop bitching about ruthless patch notes size.

Guys, are you blind? GGG right now have a perfectly balanced game. Any meta shakeup will ruin this perfection. And it's your fault for not using/discovering new builds with less popular skills, lazy guide following dummies.
If you don't agree, don't be toxic and leave the game. You're not allowed to complain about the game you once liked. Game has moved, and so should do you, LEAVE now

Excellent take, indeed the game is in a perfect spot right now, and all these content additions make it even more so.

GREAT JOB GGG!

yeah the main problem is that there been no real balanace changes for like 1-2 years? meta is been very stable and kind of boring by now. . im sure alot were hopping for some buffs to really underperforming skills perhaps chaos dots or way to scale dots higher at higher end.

the faster ignite/blees new sup sounds great we are yet to see the numbers but then why not make it work on all dots?

lack of info is massive because there have not been any actual skill balance changes or uniques or anything just 2 subclasses which we already saw .. and GGG hope to make the whole balance changes based on the new added support gems (probably wont happen) but guess what.. we cant see the new support gems or know their % so we still cant build around them or plan a build xD
130+ days for that shit pn
Are you serious?

At this point, between Ruthless and PoE2, they could just tell us that they've abandoned PoE.

well this made impending doom trash, glad it was viable for crucible

Why is it trash now? I wanted to give it a try this League.
To everyone here saying there are more changes to ruthless than base game:
Read the actual patchnotes instead of counting the lines. The ruthless balance changes are basically just taking the red marker and deleting everything from all ascendencys and new atlas passives that seems remotely powerful.

How is that dedicating more time to ruthless than the base game, when the actual basegame changes include a dozen Atlas keystones, support gems, two ascendency reworks, a whole league mechanic, new uniques, and so on? Get a grip.

@Chris Wilson: Can Ruthless please drop more orbs of unmaking? If i made the wrong decisions with my first atlas passives it basically completely bricks the tree for the whole league, because you can easily end up with a tree that doesnt allow you to get to yellow maps. Even better than that tho would be if we could no longer trade regrets for alchs, and instead trade scours for alch directly and have regrets droprate buffed. That is because they have alot of important uses, most importantly reseting gem levels to one, so one can reuse valuable support gems and auras for leveling new characters. This whole thing is my major pain with ruthless, as it actively discourages experimentation.

Edit: Ok i forgot unmaking trade for orbs of chance, id still prefer more orbs of regret dropping and them not being tradable into alchs
