Just move the transfigured gems to the vendor

The system should definitely change. At least make the reward for a random gem of the same version available in labs 1-3.

I just rewatched the interview between ZiggyD and GGG and someone from GGG said "it's our intention that getting the transfigured gem you want isn't a huge time sink". If that's true then I wonder what their idea of a huge time sink is. I've done 30+ lab runs without getting my gem for a build I wouldn't even be playing if I can't use it.
There was a reason they made all the gems available for purchase in the first place; accessibility of build options.

All gems were ~1 chaos the first day of the league, so it's not like it gives any "value" to maze runners, so I really struggle to see the point of them gating them behind the lab. It's probably just a matter of them realizing that the lab suddenly became more or less useless (outside of ascendancy) when they removed enchants, so they just threw the gems in there to keep lab a "thing", so they don't have to come up with a new way to ascend.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

While I can't speak for normal/cruel, the Merciless Labyrinth did give me that craft: turn a non-transfigured skill gem into a random transfigured gem for the same skill.
Don't lie. I bought Penance Brand of Dissipation for 5c and from what I see it remains 5c. All of them costing 1c from day one? Unlikely

Under that logic, the argument chain would end in "Just put every single item in the vendor. As it is its just a boring rng timesink to run through actually play the game X amount of times till you get enough fragments/shards/orbs/cards/incubators to get them.

That was my point. People deman more and more shortcuts to evertyhing.
That would make them less of a treat but tbh I would be totally fine with that change. I've played for thousands of hours and have only scratched the surface of what the game has to offer. Another rng time sink on top of an already very time consuming game is not what I wish for. Everything being designed to be played forever isnt a good thing.

It was the same feeling when we couldnt buy gems from vendors. Just getting basic build defining gems was an unnecessary chore that did the opposite of making the game more exciting.

Waving prestige items in peoples faces (despite being a single player game) has its place as well but not like this.

But people aren't demanding shortcuts to everything. They're asking for one item type to be more accessible.

It's not like there is some objectively correct list of items that it's okay to have in vendors, and that it just coincidentally happens to line up with the status quo. The ease and method of acquiring various items has changed before, and will no doubt change more in the future.
Thats lietrally shortcut to what they want. You think this is first thread like this made in history of PoE? Please...

That's a false equivalency and you know that. A high end unique that improves any build is not the same as a gem that provides a skill that your build is likely built around.

Alternate quality gems were fine as Heist rewards because the vast majority of them were just minor buffs or tweaks to existing gems you could easily get, but the transfigured gems are all unique enough that the same logic can't apply. If you want to play a build with transfigured gems it's advisable to just grind with a leveling build and swap later after either trading for the gem or farming it yourself, and many people don't like that gameplay loop. They would rather get the skill they want to play with as early as possible, rather than doing something else just for the opportunity to have fun later.

That's more reason to keep them gated behind lab, they're mostly really powerful, like a lot of them are straight up broken. There should be some investment involved in getting them.
well it took 3 hours of lab runs in total doing boring normal lab so i could play the build i wanted. wow i gotta admit that was a great time, buy gem from vendor, mindlessly walk through normal lab that offered me zero challenge, test my rng luck, log off, have a beer and watch some youtube, repeat. much fun, very fulfilling and so satisfying. total time wasted, about 5 hours. why not make a farm build and buy it? so lvl a skill i dont want to play, to the point i can farm some currency to buy the gem, buy gem, make more currency so i can respec or make another character and lvl again. or i guess i could wait a week when the market will be flooded with them and they'll be selling for 1 alc.

as for your mageblood? sure put the damn thing on a vendor, why not let some casuals experience items they will never get otherwise. its a single player game, jimmy bob having a mageblood as well doesnt affect you in anyway. what does affect the game you wonder? well the large amount of bots on trade, certain groups trying to fully monopolize certain aspects of the game, trade being full of people mispricing items with zero intent to actually sell to ripoff others, rmt, etc. those directly affect the game.

well i guess they could also link it in chat and brag about having one too... thats probably the worst of all.

but i guess having a boring timesink for the pure purpose of having a boring timesink is a better idea....
